  • Installation of super tracks

When I purchased my Argo last summer, I was not aware how hard installing the tracks could be until I used the homemade track installation from an old car jack. It only takes 3 minutes (if that) to install alone!

I had one tire with a tube that was installed on the end of the tracks (bad idea). I did not know that when I purchased the used argo (1987). The second ride using the tracks in the deep snow, I ripped the air valve. The solution was to install a new tube and install in the center. There is less chances that the tire and tracks will cause the rim to spin inside the tire.

I thought of sharing the pictures of the tool, so that you can make your own. I also used it to break the bead from the tire to replace the tube!

Now I can enjoy the riding on the snow and go deep in the forest.

Man, That does look slick .... All I do is drive onto the tracks, let the air out of the front and rear tires, then pull the track togeather by hand to put the pin in......(can be a little hard on the fingers sometimes)

        Great tip, tks for sharing.

Also, you make a good point about "tires with tubes". It's a much better idea to run them in the middle, rather than the front or rear.

And finally, I love that you can break a bead with that little clamp. That is awesome. I have no trouble setting a bead, but getting them apart can be a real pain. Thanks for the pics, YOU ARE THE MAN

Steve do you have a tractor supply where you live thats where i picked mine up. 7ton cap. When i was younger we used the car jack to break down car tires.just place the front of the jack base on the bead and use the weight of the car to break the bead by jacking it up. worked every time.
