6x6 or 8x8?

Welcome to the site. I have both an 8x8 argo Avenger and an older 6x6. In my opinion it depends on what you are gonna be hauling and what you are moving in that will make the most sense. I have found that a 8x8 will haul a moose out of the bush quite easily where as the room in 6x6 you are limited to what you can haul. I had my cousin haul his moose and all our gear in an 8 wheel argo and the more weight in the back of the argo the better it rode in the muskeg. If you are just going out in the mud with a friend or want some quick turning fun to play with the 6x6 is a whole lot a fun. They both have their place. The Avenger with tracks seems to be close to unstopable though. I love it. Good luck with whatever you get and show us some pics when you do!

As said in earlier Posts, you are going to really like this site. There are plenty of great people here.

As Rock Doctor has said he drives a Conquest, check out a few of his videos. This guys puts his machine to the test. He is very knowledgeable on the Conquest and it is a very good machine. I have a Avenger and really like it. Plenty of power, towing and very stable in the water. I am not so familiar with any other machines since i have only owned a Conquest and a Avenger. Both great machines.

Then there is the new guy on the block: Matt O alias (MUDD-OX). I have had the pleasure to operate this machine. It is nothing but high quality, tough as nails. My advice is try one if one is available. The 20 inch tracks are dynamite and they swim. A few member on the site have them now and are speaking very highly of them.

There are many other machines out there that are just as capable and i will let other members chime in on their machines. This is my 2 cents.

Argo/Mudd OX

Welcome to the site, Great guys and great information available. Have had the privilage to run and operate most Argo products as well as the Mudd Ox. Greatly depends on the money available. If possible I would recommed the Conquest since this has been the work horse for argo for many years. And if funds will allow the Avenger is always a good choice. Again if the funds will allow the Mudd Ox is unstopable and will will give service for a long time to come. I prefer the 8x8 due to the extra carying capacity but the 6x6 is alot of fun. I've decided on a new 8x8. The wife and I stopped at the dealership today and they have a 8x8 650, 700, and 750EFI in stock. When we recieve quotes on all of them we will be deciding which machine to bring home. Thanks for all your replies. I will post picture of our choice after we seal the deal.

Purchased a new 8x8 frontier 650 yesterday. The dealer has ordered a windshield and convertable top for me and should have it installed and ready for pickup by next weekend. Winch,bilge,and skidplate are already installed. Held off on the tracks.......for now. Should be out on the lake fishing in a couple of weeks. photos will follow.

Nice choice

Nice choice very stable in water. Have you thought about a outboard motor for this machine? I use mine quite a lot in the water.

Replies to this post were a big help with the decission making on the purchase. I'll see how it swims first before adding the outboard. Will your machine swim against any current with the outboard? What size of outboard are you using?

So far, every 8 wheeler with frontier tires has swum like a fish. Conquest, Avenger, Mudd Ox. Rock Doctor said his Conquest swam upstream leaving a wake behind. You will be the first guy on our block with this new 8x8.

hey b.a just wondering where bouts in northern manitoba you moose hunt?? im from flin flon and just wonderin if ur seeing less moose these years where ya go?

Limestone River 1 hr out of Gillam. 10 miles through the bush. Moose count steady for last 10 years. Heavy bush, narrow river, small lake. Weather always makes a difference. We,ve been skunked but not too often. Always catch fish.

right on!! ever been hunting up by lynn or leaf rapids?? lotsa animals up there im told.. do most of my hunting within hour or two of home hear in F.F the past 5 years only 1! im thinkin of traveling up further north this year though maybe hunt on the churchill river

I hunted up by Lynn probably 15 years ago. It was a wet year with not much sign. Seen one young bull and didn't get a shot. I've been to Leaf and FF but not for hunting. Kids hockey years ago. I hear the Churchill River has moose but I'm not familiar with the river. Have you hunted the Sherdian Cold Lake area? I was between Sheridan and Snow Lake in the winter about 20 years ago and there was lots of moose sign back then.
