I believe you could easily design a set of "Chain Covers", but I think it would be almost impossible to "seal" the chains to any extent. Aliminium Checkerplate would look good
As mentioned, you don't want to stop the frame from flexing. That bends axles, and could crack the frame.
Yes, I think I might do it a little different, but I could see trying it.
I liked that guys setup, it looked usefull. I always wanted to fab up a trailer hitch something like that for my Argo. I was thinking of more of a "Gooseneck" style, where the trailer hitch drops into the back of the Argo

ya one of those setups would be alright.. hes taking the combo through some pretty sharp angle ditches and the trailer is pulling nice.. if it was hooked to his receiver he wouldve been hangin up. ya think the guy could've at least hid the wires for the winch on top inside the tubular steel. also the extra batt. in the back of the machine is something i want to get done one of these days. ya a gooseneck would be alright too. if i had any idea on welding i would be starting something like this and a pushbar/bumper for mine. guess i shouldve took welding(metals) in high school eh?Last edited by swampdonkey; 05-13-2009, 04:26 PM.

can i ask what you would do different with the chain covers rock doctor? that is my main reason for wanting to do this. just to keep as much as i can out of the chains. what i think will be the worst part is the back tube where the drain plugs are.. i still want the chains to be able to drain water, but at the same time to be able to keep the rocks and sticks out of the chains.

I think I would make the guards in 3 pieces. one for the back and one for drivers area, and another for under the seat area.
I would use Aluminium, and raise it so it clears the chains, probably line it with UHMW so that when the chains hit it it's not so noisy.
I think it would be possible to make them so they just set in between the frame rails (not sure how I would hold them there yet).
I would only go back to the rear frame, and leave the drain plugs uncovered.
If I'm visualizing this right, the chains would be covered very well, but not sealed. Something could be used to plug the gap at the back, under the frame, but I'm not sure it would be needed.
I think it would look good, and would be easy to build.

For the drain plugs, you can install a second set, frontier/avenger style, in the rear that access from outside. Bought mine at Bass Pro shop, think they are sold as live well plugs. To Invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk. (Thomas Edison)
