  • Argo kill switch

I bought a 98 argo with a 16hp briggs,The previous owner replaced the ignition switch with a riding mower switch.Every thing works good but it want turn the engine off.I tried grounding the coil kill wires to the frame and the battery and that did not kill the motor,Even tried unplugging all the ignition switch wire and ground it but that didn't work.Has anyone had this problem before,The only way i can stop the motor is to choke it out or pull the plug wires.I put a 24 honda in my maxll and hooked up a ground switch that works good.

the mower switch should work fine, but i think the diodes in your kill wires are blown. if the diodes burn out the wire doesn't actually ground out. check continuity with a meter on the kill wire and replace it if you need to. you need to check continuity in both directions, as a diode is a one way switch. hook the positive lead of a meter to one end and the negative to the other, check it then swap ends and check again... if you do not have continuity in either direction then the diodes are bad
