  • 1988 Argo 8x8

So after a long search for a good used Argo for hunting and camping I've finally managed to find one! Drove up to rocky mountain house to get a 1988 8x8 magnum with the kohler 18 it also has front bearing extensions. Anyways heres some pics from today taking it out for a test before the season starts. Wanna flush all fluids any recommendations? heard that lucus oil additive was good? thanks guys!

If you need to replace the winch, Harbor Freight has a 3000# remote control one for sale for $59.00. I have one of them on my Conquest & use it for everything from pulling others, or myself, out of sticky situations to lifting & lowering my snow plow in winter.

thanks guys, the winch works well actually. the first trip out on sunday i ran it outta gas after driving for over 2 hours on what little amount i had filled it with at home, so i had to winch it onto the trailer. I have a loose bearing on the back left and the chains for the front axles look loose so gonna be looking into buying some chain soon. also i noticed it has 3 22' runamucks on it and the rest are the older 20" runamucks including a flat on the rear left. now im thinkin ill pick up another 22" runamuck and have the bigger tires on the middle axles?

Nice machine dude, ok here's what you do, you need about 5 tim horton extra large cups to drain the oil into, its a square nut you will feel right at the front of the engine, just take your time emptyin the oil into the cups, then add half litre of Lucas NO MORE then the rest with oil of your choice, and as for the tires i wouldnt worry too much cause some of those old 20's actually blow up to bigger than 22's, any more help needed just ask

are the Bosch 4+ plugs any good? also how should i run my 22" and 20" runamucks? i have plans to run the 22's on the middle and the 20's on the outters. also tread direction should i have it like the new argos backwards V or V pointing forwards thanks guys

Which direction you point your tires depends on what terrain you plan on being in. Pointing the "V" tread on your tires forward will get you better traction in the mud or on hard ground. If you turn them around they will paddle better in the water. I would suggest pointing 2 tires on each side backward and the other 2 forward. You should experiment with it to decide the best way to mount them for your situation.

The Bosch +4's are a terrible plug for anything that is not "new", i run good old dependable Champion Copper Plus's in everything

So I was able to suck the old oil out the dipstick tube and changed the oil also couldn't find the oil filter pretty sure its supposed to be up front but no luck so poured in new quaker state hd 30W and a bit of lucas oil additive. Also changed the trans gear oil too and also gave it a small drink of lucas. Still need to grab plugs and was messing with the carb trying to make it run less rich but figure its time for a rebuild so ill look into that as well.. Got 2 axles pulled and one inner and 2 outters bad so far gonna go to bcbearing this week and get new bearings and seals and price out a 50' roll or double 50. Any tips on carb rebuild?
