Well I've been a little unclear of the name of these tires too, the ones I have are considered AT 189's, I think they are also called Frontiers because they are used on the new Argo Frontiers. I could be wrong maybe someone can confirm this or clear it all up. I included some pictures to show exactly what I have.

There are two sizes.. the frontier is stated at 24" tall, and now argo made a replacement for the 22" runamuk, pictured above.

                Hi
I'm also in the market for tyres. When I bought my 85 8 x 8 it had 20 x 11-8 knobby tyres. I just took it out for a couple of days and found the knobbies did not allow the Argo to slide sideways easily making the whole experience very jerky and no doubt puts more stress on bearings etc. So the way I see it I have to buy 8 new skiddable tyres or maybe invest in tracks. It is unlikely I will do much swimming. I'm not sure if 22 inch tyres are too small for tracks? Any one have experience? Thx in advance.

                  Hi Aussie Iron,
Where do you buy your tyres?

I haven't yet but they would have to come from http://www.olsen.argoatv.com or import yourself which could be cheaper.

The real problem with proprietory made tires is always the price.I priced the 24" Frontier tires at the local Argo dealer and they were $196 a piece monted on new bead lock rims, freight and local taxes included. As these things go actually not a bad price up here in Canada.I chickened out fearing they would be too tight a fit on my Max II.I think RI wanted $160 per for 22" Rawhide III's on beadlock rims, plus UPS freight to Maine, then I have to bring them in and pay our sales taxes. The 24" Frontiers and rims were much cheaper locally but I think the Rawhide III is a much tougher tire sidewall but, they don't swim very good or so I'm told.

Does anybody know if 24 inch tyres will fit on a 1985 KB argo ?

                        Thanks in advance

i don't think the 24's will, but the 22's will for sure. if you go for the 24's you might be running on next for nothing for air.

Another question:does those tires work when tracks are installed? They must have a bigger circumference than the runamuks or did Argo compensate by reducing the non thread circumference of the tire,so that they are the same?

not sure yet, i have to wait till the weather warms up before i can even get mine mounted onto rims, but i can't see why i won't be able to run my tracks.

I also have an 85 argo, but it has the 20x10x8 tires. I have found a atv shop that is going to sell me very similar tires for $65 a piece.
I decided to go with the 20" so that I can replace them 2 at a time rather than 8 22" tires all at once.
I will post pictures this week when I get them mounted.
