I have never heard of a belt "snapping" in an ArgoShredding, burning, slipping, YES, but never snapping. My guess is that there must have been a defect in the belt.
Around here we use Argo's quite a bit on the Gas/Oil field ind. They get worked VERY hard. Some of the more common Avenger issues I have come across include:
Broken engine/trans mounting plate.
Broken framefork under seat.
Broken/Bent axles
Broken Brng Housings.
Piled up Transmitions (120-180hrs, not uncommon)
I always carry a spare belt, not becouse they fail often, but becouse if they do fail it will be in the ugliest spot, furthest away from your truck, that you could possibly be.

Never heard of one snapping before. Like Rock said it was probably a defective belt.Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

Out for a ride sunday and noticed that my tranny appeared to move side to side when i was braking. I don't remember it doing this before. Is it possible tis is a broken tranny/motor bracket like RD mentions. Not trying to steal your thread junkman, it just triggered my memory

If you say dragging a moose behind and you mean on the ground and not on a trailer plus 6 guys at an average of 270 lbs each with gear I say you were overloaded. Towing capacity would in my opinion be based on weight on a trailer not dead weight on the ground. After the game the King and the Pawn end up in the same Box!
