  • bought my first Argo

I pulled the trigger on a 2004 Argo Avenger 8X8. It has 90 hours on it. I have agreed to purchase the Argo from a long distance away so I will inpect the vehicle when I pick it up. What should I look for? I also want to put tracks on it. The rubber tracks are extremely expensive so what do I have to do to put plastic super tracks on it?

Bob...Pull the floor boards and inspect all the chains and tensioners. If the tensioners are at max travel then the chain is in need of being replaced. I also look for cleanliness - if the inside is clean it was probabaly taken care of. Some people leave water in them, drain the engine oil into the bottom, never clean ect…this makes a mess and chain/bearing life is greatly reduced.
If you can raise the machine give each tire a shake checking for bearing play. When driving it make sure it runs well, turns both directions with the same effort.

If you are at all worried, you might post up the location of where it is being bought. Might be somewhere close to someone on here and maybe you could talk them into checking it out first before you make a long drive.

        My First Argo Also

Just Put Supertrack On, And It Was Simple But Time Consuming.
I Have A 2003 Big Foot So I Had To Buy Axle Extentions And New Rim/tires. I Guess For Clearance For The Tracks.
This Was Alot Of Money (around 2800.00) But For Ice Fishing It Will Be Great.
