Is that your dog, Bscuit, your dog's biscuit or a euphemism for something else?

I just finished tightening my left tracks and took the machine over log piles and through some awful mud I wouldn't try with tires. Mud with out water is some thing my wheeled machines never liked. it takes a lot of power to turn wheels in mud with out water but my tracked machine performed flawlessly. So far i haven't found anywhere this Adair equipped Argo won't go. What am machine!

Just a question Dan. Did you machine not come with the new Argo style tires or did you change them out? For all 2010 this is standard equipment. I just noticed you have rawhide tires.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways , cigar in one hand, whiskey in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!!"

The rawhide's tread shape rolls/slips in the tracks better than the avenger/frontier tires, Lewis. I don't know what deal Dan made about the tire swap. I don't like it either, but as long as he runs tracks, I guess he's better off.

Lewis, I ordered the MACHINE WITH 25 INCH SWIMMER tires but the swimmer tires are taller and don't offer the clearance or the toughness of the rawhide. Also these Rawhides are the 12" wide rawhide and they swim almost as well as the 25 inch tire. I plan to run the machine with tracks most of the time. I recommend anyone wanting the Adair tracks for a Frontier go with the stock 24" frontier tire since Tim cuts the tracks to fit the tire. The bigfoot with 22" tiures and Adair tracks was an awesome machine that just would not get stuck. I had to think about it long and hard becauuse i do love the new 25" tire but I wanted to go with would work best with the tracks. For now I am happy I did.

Dan how do you adjust track tension when the chians wear and stretch?

Each segment between cleats/grousers is made up of a sandwich of poly wrapped steel, 4 pieces, that interlock the chain links.. I found it quite intricate how much work and thought went into it. I think there is a "1/2 link" adjustment, but I didn't look at all the hardware.. it was time to ride. So to answer your question until Dan comes by, you can take a link out of the chain, and the segments are "adjustable". That's about all I can explain without pictures.

Exactly as roger stated. You have to unbolt the chains, take off a grouser cut off two chains links and then install the metal and plastic links which are bolted together with eight bolts. Sounds complicated but it's pretty easy and once you figure out what to do it only takes few minutes. The trick is to let air out of the front and rear tires to pull the links together and then air the tires back up to tighten everything up.

I would also like to state that the link adjustment system looks bulletproof.

Video of My Argo 650 HD at the Big and Nasty ATV Park

Here are some video clips of my Argo 650 HD at the Big and nasty ATV park in Effingham county Georgia. As you can see from the video the mud was awful and the mud pits were impassable for everything except my machine. My son and I ran up and down log covered trails and went through black swamp mud without water that stopped everything except my Argo. If anyone is having any doubts about the ability of these Adair tracks this video should help convince you. The most impressive thing about these tracks and this machine is the way it pulls out of mud holes. Just unbelievable. This machine simply refuses to get stuck. My son drove over two fallen trees that I would have never tried with tires. This machine climbed the steepest dirt mounds without breaking a sweat. Over all just a very impressive machine.

That was an awesome two thumbs up video! I,m sure that the 4-wheeler riders that were watching you drive through the same bad mud sections several times in a row, could,nt believe how easily your Argo with tracks drove through it, after trying it themselves and failing.

Thanks for the great video, Dan. You have really showcased your machine well!

I absolutely can't wait for mine to be built. You went with the 24" Argo tires, correct? My order invoice shows Adair Series 7 tracks, which I assume are the same ones on yours - ?

Bud I got the 25 inch rawhide III's but the 24" frontier tire is better suited to your application, the tracks are just as wide and there is a little more tub clearance. You should have 11" of ground clearance and a very fast swim speed. Stay with the 24" tire, you'll be happy you did. Tim cuts each track to fit the tire application so yours is going to work great!
