what did you use to paint the top? WOW!! i have to keep going to the first picture and can't beleive the job you're doing. i'm real curious about the color change and the durability of it. i was just reading some posts a couple of days ago about painting the plastic and getting it to adhere. i enjoy watching these builds, restorations, and customizations people do to these machines.
    great job!
if I could find a green unit, newer model, within my budget I won't bother to paint it. Orange is a great color, just doesn't go with my unimog. already got a multi-color mog, don't wanna make it more attractive. btw, the argo will be carried in the back of the mog. I need a super long ramp.
Takes dedication for restorations.......I have done several on various vehicles and have one looming now. Getting started is the hardest part for me lol. Good work. Have you gone through all the driveline bearings/seals?
Get a project done is the hardest part for me. I get sidetracked easily. hehe. I replaced all chains. bearings/seals were done not to long ago, seems ok now.
you have put some thought/effort in to exhaust heat removal, do you have any plans or ideas
    on exhaust/transmition noise reduction?
no plan yet. need to get it run asap before summer is end.

    question time,
is 22x11-8 too big for the old 6x6? rubbing? any online source I can get a good deal on a set of tires? brand?
is 30lbs of thrust trolling motor powerful enough to push the argo around in a calm lake?
what's the most popular engine to swap out the old oh160?

    thanks all

as far as the tires are concerened, i live in fairbanks, ak. and i went through this place ATV Parts, ATV Tires, Dirt Bike Parts, Motocross Gear, Motorcycle parts and Motorcycle Tires | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC i just got a new argo er, 1970s with the 440 2 stroker, and after LOTS of head scratching and staring at this forum for nearly a year, and other places, i have decided to go with 22X11X8 ITP mud lights. The gist of the argument is this my friend, normal skid steer tires, ie runamucks and rawhides go through water. Mud lights and other mud ATV tires go through mud and will leave you standing still in the water. Since i dont plan to head for open water, ill take the mud lights. They will also screw with the skid steering and are really rough on axels and chains, ect. how ever, i want to go through very marshy ground. Ill let you know when the order shows up and how those guys did for me! As far as an engine is concerned, if you feel brave i would buy an old fan cooled snow machine, say 400 to 600 cc that is complete and use that moter (CDI box, clutch and what ever else). Seems like they are easier (and cheaper) to come by. So long as you mix gas, you should be good. Since my argo has low range, and i think yours does too, 2 stroke may be the way to go.

                    Floor pan

Hey man great job on your restoration. I was just wondering how you secured your diamond plate for the floor and did you have to make custom brackets to raise them up above the chain and sprockets on the sides? I'm completely gutting my same Argo and looking to copy some of your work. Is there any chance you could send me some close up pics of your flour brackets and your seat brackets? Any info would be appreciated. Did you not have to redo chains or axles? Thanks man.
