  • Tracks it Is!

I think I have decided to put tracks on the Conquest 8x8 rather than the 24" tires. I don't plan to put huge miles on the rig just want it to be unstopable when I need it. There is quite a bit of muskeg in the area and I don't like being stuck. Hard to shovel your way out of the skeg. Decided on the Adair Track system. It should work great in all summer applications and can also used as well in the snow. It is not a snow track per say but it will get me around.

Tire and track systems?? Here is my dilema. I now currently have some worn down Carlisle 22.11.8's. They are a swimming tire similar to the runamuk. When I bought the rig the tires were aired right up. Lots of pressure in them. I have a suspicion that they may not hold the greatest bead at low pressure. Do I need to bite the bullet and invest in some good tires? Can you use a standard turf tire or something similar that is significantly cheaper to slap under the tracks? I am a big fan of reliability!!

Greatwhite, if you can afford it, a set of Argo 24" swimmer tires with Adair tracks are the ultimate! Smooth ride, it will give you a full 11" of ground clearance, good swim speed. As far as getting stuck, I don't think you'll have to worry about that any more, it will take some hole to stick a Conquest with Adair tracks.

I was considering that, but would you need to get them a little longer to make it around the slightly larger tires? Also, there is not much room over the tires with the 24" tires on.

I ordered 22" tires with the intention of getting tracks in the near future. Would the tracks fit over 24" on a conquest. I hope not as I already placed the order. So Rocks post doesn't get overlooked here was his question.

From the postings that I've read each of the 24" inch Argo tires need to be measured and then you'll need to decide what tire to place each one next to because of clearance issues between each tire. With that being said, you made the right choice in ordering the 22" inch tire if you plan to install the Adair tracks on your Argo Conquest.

Thanks for the reminder, 22" tires are your best bet for a Conquest. Let us know how it works for you Greatwhite.

                Impressive clip

Well, I've always wanted to try them and now I have received permission from the peti-coat government to get a set of Adair Tracks, so I will have one machine on 24's and one on Adair's. Should be interesting. Not in a hurry, but should have them for next spring at the latest.

Good observation GreatWhite...24" tires on a older body style would not leave enough clearance over the tire and under the fender to run a track system....as far as the length, 24" frontier tires measure approx 76" around, and a 22" is approx 68" so there would be a differance in length of about 8" also....normally this type of track is shipped about 6" longer than necessary so that you can check for fit (because tires very a lot in true size) and trim back as necessary, same as you would do if you wanted to tighten them up a bit....they can be easily adjusted in about 2" increments and be rebuilt if ever necessary...
