  • conquest rebuild

First time here i got this conquest from work.It had been ran in salt water than park with the nose pointing down hill for a couple of years than when they tried to move it guess what.So they dragged it to the dealer 10,000 plus to repair it .So they are if you want it take it. ok So about 35 hours of time to disassemble it trying to save axles which i was only able to save two. frame complete out of shell everything sitting apart on shop floor. cutting out bad part of frame to replace,Strange thing 91 dodge 250 drive shaft same size steel as end part of frame so just cut and reweld .thats where i am now just ordered hd axles all the way around plus some other to the tune of 2700 i think. i believe when i am done i should have 3500 in a very strong machine.

We definitely love pictures here so when you get time, upload some to the gallery. It sounds like you are going to have a new machine when you are done for a fraction of the cost. It's always a lot of work to do what you are doing but in the end it will be worth it. Welcome to the site.

Ouch, that frame tube was in rough shape.
You said you replaced it with drive shaft material ( seamless pipe )?
How much per ft was that ?

i scraped a truck last year so i had it in the shop it was same size and thickness.Todays project was the aluminum plate in bottom forgot the chain adjuster so i had to cut them out to fit .The first coat was sprayed on this eve. so it is going to be a slow rebuild i guess.

                            maiden trip

Ok well she is together .Nice day and out we go first thing I go in the lake bob around a bit do not see the big thing on argo swimming but ok. New upgrade on seals seem to be just fine spend about 30 min in water. no leaks.Next up power line first mud hole seems good.so on down through the brush fallen log stuck on log no biggie just push it off.Stop to look at every thing 1 flat on each side the dang thing got stabbed by stump left by bush hog . ok still got 7 good one off we go on power line again way over grown.up one heck of a steep bank that i would not track a dozer up no promblem. Now lets see how the mud does down by the lake where it has gone down runs across it no promblem.back to truck. So as for the rims from rec supply bead did not break and that is flat 0 psi with hole through tire.new seals maybe 1 oz of water in argo. The only other thing i have is clutch will not disengage i can not turn idle down anymore i have to shut off motor to shift but . i will see what that is.total rebuild time about five months .of free time nice to have it out of shop.Would i rebuild another I do not think so it really was a lot of work.but hey the machine was free if only the parts were
