anyone have any ideas on what type of material to use when i go ahead and replace the windsheild in my machine?? have some nice cracks starting and the thing is pretty wreched from scraping on the willows. also where could a guy find defroster grid to put on the windhseild to keep it clear of fog in the winter ive looked around and cant find anything. anyone know of a kit that a person could pick up? thanks

i was thinking about lexan when i get around to doing mine, i used it to make a windshield for my boat. it is real easy to work with and cheap compared to argo glass, but it does scratch.

i'm looking to make a windsheild and thought of lexan even the abrasion resistent, anyone have a fairly cheap source? also what thickness should it be? i think i found a 4'x4' sheet for 275.00$, can it be found cheaper than that? i think that was 1/8th" thick.

I used 80/20 (Introduction to 80/20's T-slotted Framing) framing and lexon for glass, i use armorall to polish out scratches and it works pretty well

I use speed glass in alot of race cars and hot rods I build at the shop. It is like lexan but has a protective 3M scratch resistant coating on it. It is made by Percys.

We've had a lexan one for the past 3 years. It's not on a hinge & has gotten scratched up from us putting it on the trailer or in the back when we've not needed it (needed air flow). If it wasn't for that it would still be in good shape.

do you find it fogs up more/less than glass?
do you have a wiper on it?

Yes it has a wiper, it does fine has hasn't caused any major scraches. I haven't noticed a fogging problem, but the cab isn't completly inclosed, (has doors but open back)
I drilled a few 1-1/4" holes in the lower and upper sections to allow air movement, I plug them in the winter.

I have the same lexan they make snow plows out of, it was about $100.
