I think part of the problem with the HD is a very restrictive exhaust, I would run the machine with out the hood and use marine fuel or an additive. I noticed that my machine started to run a lot cooler after it got a few hours and started to burn some of the glass packing out of the exhaust. Running marine fuel without alcohol seemed to make a great difference. On hot days in the summer I ran my HD without a hood. I hate that I had to make these concessions but they worked for me.
