Without knowing what it has been used for, How it has been used . There are so many thing to look for
    1... wheel bearings
    2... Chain sprockets
3... cracks in tub or holes.
    4... motor oil.
    5... trans oil
    6... bent axles
    7... Tires rims.
8... You could get into the motor and check the compression, Rad
    9... I could go on.
It sounds like it has fairly low hours for the year, Is it a bear bones unit? Or What will come with it?????

it comes with a fiberglass windshield w/ wiper, camo soft top, and a pac rat double axle trailer.

Its in really great shape, the motor looks almost new. I've bought several used cars and trucks but never an argo. so from the obvious stuff i was wondering about the items that are argo specific.

They are a very simple machine. Everything is straight forward on them It,s the bearings and chains that seam to give the most grief They do not like old gas at all. You will have bent pushrods. and all sorts of trouble. On the poss. side the conquest is a good work horse. I have a 02 with the kaw. motor. and have had no issues that I could not fix. As for the bearings you can get them very easy at a half decent price. There is a lot of info on the site that you can find on the conquest. If you get it you will get many years out of her if you use it and not abuse it. Just like anything else you buy.
Just DO NOT RUN OLD GAS IN HER AND USE A GAS STABILIZER IN THE TANK.
Somebody may add a few more things about the conquest. But I am happy with it.

          1. check the chains. The adjustmet system is with springs, so if it looks like the adjustment is mostly closed, time for new chains. (double 50 chain aint cheap)

          2. argos is about the maitnece, just make sure it looks like the berings have been greased regularly (aka bunch of old grease around them) and the chains were well lubed (no rust, and there is oil on the bottom of the pan)

          3. Score on the pack rat buddy, those are good meat wagons!

          4. Make sure it has the full lenght skid plate under it, and a few big scratches are ok, but if someone has worn through that..... it is probbably like a 1000 hr + machine!

          5. Dont know if you have heard the stories, but i saw one that a guy bent a axel shaft on, so he pulled the wheel off and was crusing out with a WHOLE MOOSE and he said that it was having no problems with just the 7 wheels, it was going every where that it would normal go with 8!

If your scared, change out the front two out board bearing, and keep the old ones for a spare (i think they are the ones most likely to fail)

          7. TIRE CONDITION How much tread is on the tires?? That is important, new tires, i think are in the ball park of 160 for a smoking good deal all the way up to 210!

          8. Breaks, how much material is left?

          9. Call your local Argo dealer ( i think their in anchorage) and find out about how many hours it will run before new bearings/chains/belt it will go.

          operator's manual for you:

post up pics if you get it!

I saw it on Anchorage Craigs list, it looks nice and straight. If you take a small jack to lift the tires off the ground you can check for play in the outer bearings. Also see if the owner has a service log with reciepts for parts purchased, these tell the true story! All in all not a bad price if its a good machine.

We have a buyers guide on the front page in the how to section. Print it out and i will give you a lot of input to help with buying a machine. Here is the location.
A buyer's guide and pre-purchase inspection (PPI) checklist for purchasing a used amphibious ATV.

              Hope this helps.
