Just bought my 1st 6 x 6 and need to know how to determine what year it is?
it's an Argo 6 x 6 Vanguard and has a Briggs 16 horse Vanguard, but it does not have an ID plate.
It's a basket case but I believe I can save her, but I need to find out exactly what she is so I can buy parts.
    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you post a few pics?

You don't actually need to know the exact yr, MOST Argo models use mostly the same parts throughout the yrs they are manufactured. I have 4 Conquests, all different yrs, and MOST parts are interchangeable/same for all of them.

You can obtain the VIN information from your dealer if you get the serial number that is stamped in the top of the transmission case. That of course is if it's the original transmission.

There is a number on the tranny and it is an Argo tranny Thanks I'll try calling a dealer and give them the number and see what happens!

How about the frame, are they available to purchase. This one is pretty rough!

no biggie! With luck the frame has just surface rust on it and just needs paint. If not.... no bigie plenty of how to build new frames in your back yard (better than factory) under attexes and the likes. with enough Bud light anything is possible and wecome to the family!

Looks like a great find....someone took it apart and gave up or ran out of time.
Wish i could find one in that condition.
I bet all the parts you need to put it together are available from 6x6 members.
Most are common to many years of argos.

Anyone that knows how much fun these things are would tell you its worth the time and investment it takes to get it back on the trails.
I bet your buddies will be jealous when its up and running.
Half the fun is in the resto and when its done you will want to do another one.....like many of the members here you cant stop with just one.
