I'm a T-8 here in South Africa and got an Argo avenger 8x8 and I also thought I might need some sort of strap, but after giving it a go, I found it not necessary unless you go to real steep side slopes. My Argo was fitted with a ROPS, which comes with a set of seat belts. I used this initially but after removing the ROPS and doing a lot of fishing form the Argo, I decided not the where the seat belt anymore in case I tipped over the Argo, or sink it - fear of being crushed or drowning if strapped in.

Its actually amazing how stable you are with the backrest of the seat and both hands on the controls.

I love my machine to bits...takes me places I didn't think I'll ever be able to go again, even in my 4x4. Amazing vehicles...

I'll have to check my argo out when it comes in to see were I can hook the belt up. I've got a 750 hdi se ordered. Been riding around on my 4 wheeler, it's a honda with electric shift, never thought when I bought it that I would need the E.S.
      Thanks for the info

Hi coosaridgerider, no I didn't order it with any mod's, like whitepuff says he does not require any mod's and with my level of injury I'm lucky enough to not require any either. I am thinking about putting in a belt for certain circumstances and I remembered reading a post on here about a company a few hundred miles from me that sells the same suspension seat(darby) that comes in my argo so I went on their website and sure enough there are seat belts available. My brother in law lives there and is coming up in a couple weeks for a visit and he'll pick me one up.
Whitepuff glad to hear you love and enjoy yours, I too figured I wouldn't strap myself while swimming. I didn't order mine with a ROPS because the dealer told me the top I ordered with it wouldn't fit. I'll bet yours is a lot more stabil without the rops from the posts I've read on here.
        Thanks guys
        Bill

I started pulling axles yesterday. That was fun.Looks like argo no longer makes the sprockets or axles so i might have to make a couple front ones.If there are any good used ones out there please let me know.I have the 11/4 axles the sprockets are held on with roll pins.I also need 2 jack shaft sprockets.

Hi bill that suspension seat will be a good addition.Brandon is a c6.He has no feelings from the chest down,Limited use of his right hand and very little in his left hand and not good balance but getting better.I was thinking about mounting a suspension seat that swivels and slides on a rail out the back to transfer into. This way he will have a harness to strap him in and a type of suspension.I will make manual controls.I want him to have to work at driving it,That will give him some good work outs.Hi whitepuff,Glad to hear you too are enjoying your argo.Brandon cares nothing about hunting or fishing so this will be used to get around where we live and maybe get to go for some easy trail rides.

working around that chain lube you have to almost wear disposable clothes and have a bunch of sunlight soap on hand.

You are correct.I have spent 2 10 hour days in almost 90 degree very humid days.Between the sweating swatting and swearing i got it done but probably ruined 2 sets of cloths.

Update on brandons argo. The wheels and tires came yesterday.A very nice set of 22" runamucks,Thanks Tim,your the best.I found out this is an 88 model and the last year of the pinned axles and they are no longer available,Looks like i will have to replace both front sprockets and axles with the splined axles and one jackshaft.I have the frame out and cleaned and ready to get welded tomorrow.

Keep up this pace and we will be seeing your friend enjoying his new toy in no time at all. Post some more pics when you get a chance. What you are doing is very admirable.

I had to cut the bottom pan out it was a little rusty.I will be replacing it.The frame looks good other than the belly pan.It was so greasy that it look like someone run grease on the chains. This has been a very hard tear down but i got the worst part behind me.

I got the frame welded, painted and put back in.I got 4 of the axles in and 4 tires on.I decided to leave the pan off the frame to make it easier to clean out.I could only get 7 of the 12 bearings,The others are on order.I tried to take pictures but my camera card is full and i will have to get another card for it.It is starting to come together really nice and clean.I will post pictures soon.
