I'm watching your project closely, ridgerider. I may follow you and make my 8x8 accessible, too. I've had it several years and have never even been for a ride. I keep coming up with ideas that are too expensive or just beyond my skill level. I have finally decided to try and use it with the existing motor (a 2-stroke 440 Kohler) and make the best of things. If I enjoy riding it then I can think about a new motor, etc.

Hi kelly,I hope your doing good today.I decided to mount a suspension seat on a rail that will slide out the back and swivel so that he can transfer into the seat and also have some type of suspension. Not sure how i am going to do it yet but i am working on it.I think that would work better than a wheel chair ramp.

hi I am also following your build , great job by the way .................for your seat idea maybe one of those plastic racing seats with the padded cover mounted on a boat seat mount......... The kind with a shock ,then you get swivel, suspension, and a seat with side support

          something like this

            Hi Roy,
A suspension seat sounds like a great idea. My main concern with driving the Argo is the rough ride. I'm skinny with a bony butt and it would be real easy to cause a pressure sore. I can't transfer and still balance well enough to do much of anything, including changing the pressure on my butt every 15-30 minutes. Having a big captain's chair with suspension would make for a smooth ride.

Did you get to talk to the guy in the video to see how well the argo was working out for him.

I called a company that handles the seats that you posted the web link of and asked about the price of their cheapest suspension seat. The price that they quoted me over the phone was outrangeous!! Here is another idea. http://www.xcraftseats.com/products/x-system-58/ If you know some one with fabrication skills you could have them build a suspension platform similar to this one , but a whole lot cheaper. You could outsource a shock from a atv or motor cycle salvage yard too.

                            Hi Roy,

Yes, I spoke with him before he made the videos. He likes his conversion and the freedom it provides. The one thing he has to be careful with is the steering. I believe he's using an actuator linked to a joystick to steer and it is too sensitive. He said he has to be very careful at higher speeds because it can turn the Argo sideways in a bad way. Other than that, he seems to get a lot of use out of his machine.

Sorry for the late reply. I went up to Montana for a week and was without internet.

I hope you're making good progress on your project.

                              Hi Kelly
Hope everything is going good on your end.Glad to here the argo is working out good for him.I'm sure it will take some time to get use to the controls.Brandons argo is coming along but not fast enough. The lady that ordered my bearings ordered the wrong ones so i have to wait on those. The axle issue might take a little time but i hope to get the aluminum for the floor pan this week so that i can start on that.Any more thoughts on your argo?

I haven't started with my Argo yet. I'm waiting to see how your conversion works out first.
