  • FOD in the Argo

((Having issues loading pictures, hopefully it's all sorted out by Page 2 of the thread))

FOD: Military acronym for "Foreign object debris" aka: anything out of place that will jack your equipment up

I bought a 1997 Argo Conquest less than a week ago and have enjoyed the HECK out of it! I work all week and have still managed to put almost 15 hours on it! Anyway, I am getting to know my machine and trying to get really personal with it. I am handy, but have zero experience on farm equipment/motors/atv's/etc. I've never greased a bearing before! (2 days ago was my first greasing experience) Just wanted to proclaim my ignorance as a disclaimer for any verbiage I use incorrectly!

So here is my issue at this moment:

I found these two pieces of FOD (under the rear floorboard by the drive-chains) last night after riding:

Some tubing that's somewhat gummed up, clear in color, approx 1.5' long.
Also some sort of metal hollow cylinder approx size of end of pinky finger.

So I assume these piece are supposed to be somewhere on the motor but I have no idea where. These pieces were NOT in that area the day before yesterday as I cleaned out all debris before riding then. I would love to get them back in their proper place ASAP so I can go riding stress-free! Anyone here recognize these pieces?

Any help would be majorly appreciated!

    PS: Reidsville, North Carolina here!

I thought the above was a better photo... turns out it's another crappy one. These pictures are coming from my crap phone, I apologize.

I also wanted to show my nasty chains:

They're wet which is great but they're GUMMED up like crazy. No bueno. I work too much to attempt a chain job any time soon. Anyone else's chains look like this? It feels unacceptable to me!

And last, one wheel was bent when I bought it. I can't feel anything while driving that reminds me of the bent wheel, I'm not sure how much it actually matters. It's the very rear left side wheel. Here is a crappy picture, hard to tell:

Was wondering if you folks felt like this is a FIX ME NOW problem or if it's something that I can continue to drive on for a little while?

      Thanks so much!

Oh no! They are showing when I view the thread! I love the forum concept but I always suck at posting!

Can anyone point me to directions for posting pictures?

I am emailing them to myself on gmail with my phone, then opening the URL from my gmail account on the computer, then copy and pasting the URL into the little box that pops up when I click the "Insert Image" button.

          Help!

I can't see the pics either, but the cylinder might be the spacer from under ther carb linkage. If it had been dropped and replaced. That might be the one that was dropped.

The url for the pics (from what you described) is a link that is accessible if someone is logged into gmail/google as YOU, which is why we cannot see the pics.
Post them on a public photo host like photobucket.com
Once you get them there, use the url from that site.

Hopefully this works! First is my bent wheel, then a couple of gummy chains then a few of my FOD I am trying to identify. I apologize for the low quality!

I got on today and it showed all the little error messages for the pictures loaded a few posts above. I had to edit the post and copy and paste the image URL again. Same exact image URL but had to re-paste all of them to load. Is everyone else seeing the images? I apologize for the headache but I suck on these forums.

I wanna get the picture posting worked out so I can share some North Carolina Argo experiences on here! We had her in the lake last night with 795 lbs worth of dudes riding! She took on some water, believe my rowdy boat rocking buddies are mostly to blame for the water we took on. The bilge worked like a champ though!

Yall please let me know if the photos are working, and if anyone has had a similar experience with having to re-paste all of the image URL's.

                              Thanks!
