Whipper,,the reason I ask how much of the A-arms are under the water, is because where I ride, there are lots of swamp and bayou crossings that I drive through in my Max, so how far the A-arms hang down is a big concern for me.

Its one thing in the deserts of Arizona where you live,,where you can easily get out, and unhook what ever is tangled up underneath your tub that prevents foward momentum,, but quite another thing entirely where I am ,when you are crossing bayou or swamps with unknown depths of water.

I also wonder what you are planning to do to prevent the stick damage of your cv boots, and also what will you do to prevent the pencil brace on the front of the A-arms to not get broken off ,when it comes in contact with fallen log with broken limbs or even misquite bush limbs?

This becomes a big problem for people who ride in places like I do,,with lots of
fallen trees and broken limbs underneath the waters surface.

On a stock Amphib, with your axles parallel to the tub, and not stcking out very far, this is not a major issue, but when you have A-arms hanging down bellow the surface of the water,,this becomes a big concern when you are driving through swampy areas with lots of fallen logs with broken limbs hanging out below the waters surface.

Hey Whipper glad to see you got the video's up tonight. The videos just don't do that springer justice. You just cant tell how good that thing is doing over those rutted out sandy washes. It definetly looked alot better in person. I'm upset that the video of you catching air, didn't really show it. I blame it on the camera man (me). The video of you going up and down that ledge show's the suspension really working! and a damn fine job at that. Glad to see everything worked out as it should. On to the MAX!!!! Right Bridget.

What speeds do you think you were reaching in those shots where you went past the camera? I have a hard time judging from the video.

I’m no expert but it appears that you need tires with a greater water displacement. I appears too much of the tires were underwater to take advantage of the paddle effect of the Carlisle’s chevrons. Perhaps a larger diameter or a wider footprint? What do you think?

Whipper, that was awesome! I'm so glad everything worked like you had planned and I loved the videos. Thanks for taking the time to post them. The side by side action shots from the chase car were too cool and the smooth transition up that ledge towards the end of the second video really show how good your system works. Congratulations man and now you just need to recreate that car jump. I can't wait to see some more videos of you getting some BIG air!

Whipper I guess it all comes down to this " different strokes for different folks"

Its like this Whipper, some times my friend and I are on a great trail through the woods,,and come to a section on the trail where a tree has fallen down, so we then have to make an alternate route around the fallen tree. This might mean pushing down small bushes or small diameter trees. One trail ride comes to mind:

It had been raining quite a bit, and the area of trails where we like to ride at, was flooded in some sections of the trail. We then chose to drive down the sections of trail that was fllooded and also partially fllooded in some sectons.
As we continued to ride, we later found an old trail we had not seen before ( we had just started riding there ) so we contnued in that direction. We pushed down waist high swamp grass,,rode over fallen logs as drove through the tall grass,and then came to a section of trail ahead, that looked like a bayou ,it was fllooded so bad. It had rained a lot, and the river had over flowed in the low sections of the trail. We just motored on ahead,,swimming at a casual water speed,,between the flooded trees,and by chance,, found another section of trail ahead. We then drove down that section of trail for about two blocks or so,, only to find that the trail dead ended for us,,because of a tree the wind had blown down.

Its in places like this, that you have to make a decision to make an alternate route around what ever stops you ahead, or stop your trail ride, reverse direction, and then go back the way you came. Some times this means pushing down small trees, small bushes, or going over fallen trees with limbs and branches hanging out. I don,t abuse my machine because I,ve got too much $$$ tied up in it, but some times things like this are unavoidable, unless you constantly drive your amphib on "groomed" trails. But,,thats half the fun of owning an all terrain vehicle . being able to go places you can,t in any thing else, but an all conquering terrain amphib.

I guess it gets down to this Whipper,,you don,t care to ride in the technical and challenging trail sections I like to ride in, nor do I have any pleasure rding where you like to ride at, where lots of speed is desired. I am not an ex- racer


Most of the places I choose to ride are so technical ,twisty, and challenging to drive through,, you can only drive at a slow walking pace or fast walking pace. But this is what I bough my amphib for. To be able to go places I never could before on my Polaris 500. I had 4 wheel drive and fully independant suspension. This thing rode like an off road cadilac. But,,in 9 months,,I riped a hole in two cv boots. Thats why "Stick Stoppers" are so popular with the 4-wheeler crowd.

One time I was trail riding,and to avoid some deep water on a section of trail ahead, I decided to take an alternate route, and accidently got harpooned by a limb hanging out from a fallen tree. But the other time this happened,,I dont have a clue. All I know is this,,its a royal pain in the #@!! to change out an inner cv boot!

Whipper, I wonder about the following-How would that set up work with big tires like I have on my Max IV. My chief concerns are extra ground clearance for going through very deep mud and using that suspension system to keep contact with the ground in the forrest while going over piles and piles of logs that are every where down here. My chief concern would not be speed at all but keeping my wheels in contact with the ground to get over extremely bad terrain and using that suspension to lift my max four inches higher to keep my tub above the very soft mud and therefore keep me moving through almost impossible mud,forrest and swamp conditions. Your thoughts please, because it seems like this system would improve off road ability with the proper tires, engine and gear ratios. I am sure that you know from watching my videos that my thing is going through impossible terrain that would scare the daylights out of normal folks, THX DAN
