Hi- My name I Martin and I am new to 6x6world.com. I have been a long time 6x6 lover and as of today, June 26, I finally have my first 6x6! Here is a little bit about my Attex.
The Attex I recieved today, as a gift from my Grandfather, has been in my family since the very early 1970's. He bought this 6x6 when it was a year or two old, so Im guessing in 1973/1974 or so. He has had this Attex every day since then, giving my mom and her sisters rides when they were young as well as me. I am currently 21 years old and can recall going for rides with my grandfather in this 6x6 when I was younger and loving every minute of it! Over the last few years, the attex had been being used less and less and my grandfather was looking to get rid of it, so I though, maybe he would pass it down to me. He was more than happy to give it to me and it is something that I cherish forever.
I plan on restoring this Attex to the best of my abilities and would greatly appreciate the assistance of the users of 6x6world since this is my first Attex and I am not 100% sure on a lot of things such as where to find parts, etc
.
A few of the issues I am going to have are fixing the damage to the right front corner of the tub where it is cracked and dented and finding hubs with the original style wheels/tires as pictured in one of the pics. Another issue, which I am hoping is not a major one, is that I can take the left rear and left front tire and pull/push them and the axle moves in and out about an 1/8 or an inch or so...any ideas on this? Other than these issues, this machine is extremely solid for being 40 years old due to my grandfather taking great care of it (for some reason, the camera flash made everything look worse than it really is).
This should a fun little project and I look forward to getting information I need from this awesome website!
Also-How do I upload pictures...after I do the upload file part, I cannot drag anything into the attachment area?!?!
