well I have been working on my machine as much as I can(work gets in the way).
So far I have cleaned the points,timed the machine,new throtle cable,new filter and fuel lines,fuel pump,new chains,new battery,new rims and at101 tires fixed the cracks and about a 3/4 gal. of acetone and alot of elbow grease cleaning the body.
I decided to do away with the 3 bolt hubs altogether and fab some4 bolt extensions.
I'll get some new pics up when I get the tires on there.
I do have some carb issues that I'll post in the engines forum.
The guy I bought this machine from said it was a 1965.What was the first year they made the st400?
Ive learned alot about the attex on this forum, its awsome. now if I can just get a little better at driving the damn thing.

some pictures/Extensions made

Hey guys I finally got the extensions done.
heres what we came up with.

They extend the wheel base about 3 inches on each side.

Still not alot on clearance for the tracks.

here is the damage caused by the track without the extensions.

all and all I think its starting to look ok.

Looks great! Those new wheels and tires with that beautiful yellow body really make this machine look great! It's going to be a true go-anywhere machine once you put those tracks on it. Light weight, high horsepower 2 cycle engine, and tracks ought to make for a really fun snow rig.

Thanks jp, I hope you're right. Being here in minnesota We have lotsa snow lotsa the time. I am hoping to use this for ice fishing and hunting all winter.
Got the tracks on and made a trailer hitch today. I'm off to work beet harvest but ill get some pics up when harvest is done.

That was a pretty good deal on the machine. I am rebuilding also, and found a place that has a wealth of mechanical parts for the DYI'er at surpluscenter

for an ATTEX, these hubs ATV Live Axle Hub | Chains, Sprockets + Hubs | Northern Tool + Equipment with some take off golf cart rims are a cheap solution. glue tires to the rims with http://www.permatex.com/products/aut...et_Sealant.htm and you shouldn't have too big of an issue with losing beads...

How well do these hubs hold up? Have you tried them before?

I ran those hubs for several years on my wild wolf trail machine, and still have them on my st400 racer ... they have held up great for me.
