In its original configuration, think some legit 27s would fit on Newt without any problems. When I built the frame for it, I had to bump up the axle centerline almost 5/8" to accomodate some different things. Ground clearance will still be exceptional, but it might be snug with the 27s. We'll have to see.
::EDIT:: I knew I had a picture of the 27" Kenda on Newt somehwere. I took this last fall. After looking at this, I'm bummed I couldn't find as good a deal on the 27s.

What is the minimum tire to tire/tire to tub clearance so as not to have debris stuck in there and to avoid tire to tire mud transfer in the real sticky clays and such? I am ALL for mods, but you can go to far and see diminishing returns and poor reliability at a certain point.6X6 toys...... now THAT is down right American!

I'd say the debris and mud x-fer are not issues to worry about.

I personally think that jims Max that he built (the blue one he posted) Is the baddest one I ever seen...I just drool over that 40hp kohler. If I had the cash though is pry own a 6x6 muddox. They are very impressive. But in the bang for you buck category most will agree its hard to beat a Max."You've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything"

Max II, 22 Inch Rawhides, Winch, 16hp Briggs Vanguard...My First AATV...

Every machine has it's pro's and con's. If you are limiting it to a 6x6, My 3 choices for "badest" in no particular order would be, Hustler Bigfoot, Argo Bigfoot and Max IV. If big tires and ground clearance are the primary concerns, then those are probably the big 3 to look for (easily accesable... but then I know of an EVIL Super Swamp Fox). Of those machines, I only own the Hustler... The pitfalls of this machine are the "Hump"(lower tub has one spot that sticks down and will high center you) and the 1 3/16 axles. I am throwing some HP at mine and can literally break axles on command. I would drive either of the other 2 mentioned any day if someone wanted to drop them off at my house, but (honest) owners of either one could tell you their shortcomings.
That being said, My favorite machine is My Attex Wild wolf. It has been beefed up with a Briggs Vanguard, Splined axles and a roll cage. Rolling on 21" tires it is the lightest of all my machines and has the least ground clearance, but will go damn near anywhere.A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

don't forget the argo 650hd, that black one of doug or dan's is very impressive, but the bigfoot with a 23 or bandolero engine would be something.big tired, high horse max2's are fun and impressive, baddest is subject to intended usage. sorry for grammar, one handed for now.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
