    Larry,
I think the waterproof part comes from something in the grease that makes it sticky-er, and, able to stick to wet metal.......a lot of regular greases ,if applied to wet metal, have a hard time sticking without a lot of pressure to expel the water film between said grease and metal part.....

At least, that's the explaination I got........

I agree with Larry, I live next to a salt marsh and just a couple of miles from several tidal rivers. The salt air around here will kill everything and you must constantly be aware of lubing everthing. Most of the places I run my six wheeler have a certain amount of tidal water (salt). This is where I live as this is what I have to deal with, I don't like it but it's either deal with this or go inland about a hundred miles.Everthing on the max that is bare metal has to be lubed and it has to be done often or you pay the price in rust.

Sounds good rdr...Meinfeld was telling me about the whole vinegar thing. Pretty fascinating to me because my wife is Filipino and they eat just about everything either with coconut vinegar in it, or use it as a dipping sauce...I'm pretty interested in tasting some of this pork. Whole pigs are kinda hard to find around here. Oh yeah, back to the Filipinos...the ultimate party dish there is whole roasted pigs, they stuff the carcass with herbs, then baste with Sprite, butter and vinegar till it's crispy....good stuff for sure.

I'd say the most common BBQ around here is, in this order: beef brisket, steak, and beer can chicken. I have a hook-up for dry-aged beef and have gotten kinda spoiled.

So you cook too, yg?? So what's on the menu in N. Cali??
          Hammers should have warning labels.

              HI,
I make some mean pork ribs, and, bbq leg of lamb.........
Shrimp on the Barby is always a hit.......I even cook my veggies there.......
I have to cook, being a single dad.......and, my 'girth' tells the tale of my skills......or desperation.......

Can you imagine an AATV convention and cook off? drool........

My problem is you are all so far away from here, it'd be a small fortune just to haul my Hustler back east.....dang........

              And,
everything is on fire here now, and, it's quite early in the season for so many wildfires, we've had over 1,000 going at once lately, not sure of the total now........
