I've never owned a six wheeler until recently. Always been into dirt bikes and building trucks. My uncle passed away and left me his Max 2 6x6 and a completely restored it. This Thread has provided me with some excellent information. But the best info is literally tearing it apart into pieces and figuring out everything 1st hand. It was an incredible project, although back-breaking from being bent over working in the tub, my uncle would be excited to see this machine in the condition that is it in.

Hi there from Vancouver Island, BC! Just got my first Argo project. She's an 80's 8x8 with a newer Honda 400 motor in it. It's a project for sure, but I look forward to diving into it and hopefully having it ready for some fun soon. If there are any local members to me, I would welcome any and all help with this beast!

Hello everyone, just picked up an Amphicat that is pretty beat up. I have been reading articles that have provided sooooo much great info about it though. I just got new tires for it mounted on the rims and wheel conversion kits you all suggested. Had lots of fiberglass cracks I have repaired too. Now I have a piece in the CDI ignition control that seams to be missing. I think the old Rockwell engines are just Ski-Doo engines though right? Any ideas on a part number though? Thanks!

Hi all, Mark here have an old Tmodel argo and looking to change out the tecumseh with something a little more reliable and peppy. Who has done this and what engine did they replace with. I'm from saskatchewan canada. Great website. Thanks for any replies.

Hello, I am new to the Argo scene and just recently purchased a 2000 conquest. Been having some issues with it most recently the throttle cable broke. Tried taking it apart and lost the springs of the control plate down in the engine compartment and don’t know where they go on the plate. If anyone an give me some advice it would be much appreciated. Love the group. Thanks Loki.

This is my second argo. Both machines are high maintenance. When i say high maintenance I am comparing it to a quad, sxs dirt bike type of vehicle. That being said if you get on any problems as they occur your maintenance woes will be less. Keep them greased, chains lubed, tire pressures etc along with proper engine maintenance. That is with any piece of equipment. What is your budget? Are thinking new, used? Can you get that big buck in the machine? Do you hunt alone or with a buddy? What level of mechanical skills have you? How are you fixed for tools and a place to work on it? I know guys who have had all kinds of these machines that don't know which end of a hammer to pick up. These are just some things to think about. Best if you can try out some different machines. I am partial to the Argo because I live in Canada, about an hour away from the factory, haven't had a real chance to try out other machines. I too, have had dirt bikes, quads and a side x side. The Argo is best suited for my needs. It comes down to what you want and like. Which ever you pick, you will be alternating from a grin ear to ear to turning the air blue.. Oh yeah, get a winch....whatever you get .....get a winch.

Hello everybody from the State of Minnesota. I have been following this site for some time and have finally decided I had better introduce myself. I have been a outdoors person my entire life as a avid hunter, fisherman as well as camper and have explored out of reach places by foot and with dirt bikes, snowmobiles, 3 and 4 wheel ATVs and SXS UTVs and figured I need to explore further into the well known swamp lands of Minnesota for the elusive monster whitetail bucks and the sights to be seen. So here I am, looking for answers for which brand and model AATV is the best and provides the most bang for the buck and isn't a maintenance hog. I'm going to plead ignorance with the current brands and be honest the last AATV I drove was a Amphicat back in the mid 1970s and it was a blast!

Hello everyone. I am just purchasing my 1st AATV. It's a 2021 ARGO 6x6 Frontier 650. I have about 31 acres of cattail marsh land in the middle of MI and I need a machine to conquer as trotting through a cattail marsh on foot is a chore. I think it's going to be a challenge and a hoot all at the same time. I have been reading the forum a little and am looking forward to the wise and sometimes whimsical stories and advice here. I know I'm going to ask more questions than have answers at first but that's what these forums groups are for. Thanks for letting me in.
