Fd, I am in Powhatan, VA. We aren't too far apart. Did you happen to purchase your Max 2 from someone on Craigslist? I saw one listed recently on the Richmond site.

    Hey Y'all!

I'm new to the 6x6 world. I just picked up a Max II, not sure of the year. If I can get the pic to load I'll load the vin plate and ask for help identifying the year. The motor is a 16 B&S Vangard. It is in desperate need of a tune up so that is the first job, then on to the chains and tensioners. The electric system is missing other that the electric start, luckily the pull start still works. The reason I went with the Max II is ease of maintenance and cost. I know I'll be asking a lot of questions so be gentle... LOL!!! P.S. This is the second newbie post. I had problems with my account.

Congratulations Fdildine on your "new" machine.

You can find your year at: https://www.muddox.net/wp-content/up...-REFERENCE.pdf

Hop on over to the Max section for loads of great information on repair, rebuilding, and glorious modifications.

Welcome to the site Fdidine! Your best bet for a ready-to-go machine would be a newer Max or Argo. There may be other older machines that have been completely restored that would be good as well. Look around your area for used machines and feel free to ask the community for their opinions on a ride. Good luck and I hope you find one you like.

Also, if you live near a member they might be able to offer you a test drive.

I don't believe so ArgoJim. It was a well used machine from an estate called Glen Canisp with almost 3000 hours on it.

Hey everyone, I'm looking at learning about the 6x6s and 8x8s to decide which to get. I won't get a new one and I don't want a project either. I want to be able ride without a lot of work and something that will make the grandkids smile. I'll use for trail riding and hunting.

    Wanting to learn - Fred
