Hi Kris, welcome to the site. What kind of transmission do you have? If it is a T20 then there is a rebuild article here on the site showing you what to do step by step: T20 Skid Steer Rebuild Article They are really simple to work on and if you start a new thread in the transmission forum detailing the problem with the transmission, someone can probably help you figure out what is wrong.

Hey folks. Doug here. The newest newbie. I have been using the site for some time now doing research but just joined yesterday. I am the proud owner of a 1968 (I think) Scrambler. The guy I got it from had left it out in his back yard uncovered for some 20 years. I gave him a 5th of Jack Daniels for it so figured I couldn't go wrong. After an extensive pressure washing, the thing actually turned out pretty nice. The hull and all mechanical parts are intact and the original Briggs and Stratton Engine started and ran for a short time although it certainly needs to be upgraded. The only thing that is damaged is that white plastic "skid plate" thing on the bottom. That has pretty much disintegrated. Before I had a chance to do anything else with it, I deployed to Afghanistan and have lived and worked there for the last 6 years. My home is in North Idaho and I should be returning there permanently within the next few months. Time to retire and enjoy life. I know from my research the Scrambler is considered pretty "weak" by comparrison but I think it will be a great restoration project and suprise present for my 21 year old son. When that project gets started, I will be coming back here with all sorts of question I'm sure. In the end, I have pretty much decided on an 8-wheel Argo. In addition to hunting and exploring the high country, it will get a lot of use on the rivers and small lakes/ponds for fishing and waterfoul hunting. The 8-wheel Argo's design and spacious stern with bench seats seem ideally suited for operating a small outboard motor while fishing. I have an almost-new Honda 8HP that hopefully will be just right for the application. Those decisions have come mostly from all of the research I have done on this site and I want to thank everyone for already providing a wealth of information. Well, it looks like I have written a book rather than an introduction so will close for now but I'll be back later when the fun starts!

Hi, my name is Donald. My wife, Bea, and I are very interested in buying an Argo 6x6, so I've been doing some internet research on this.
We use our Honda Rancher to travel down the coast from our town to hunt for mammoth tusks, bones, and teeth each summer, and come across some ugly swamps, mud, and other stuff, and figure an Argo would be nice to use.
I'll continue to educate myself on AATVs, with this site being an integral piece of this research. I thank you all for any future assistance you may offer.Stand for the Flag. Kneel for the Cross.

Thanks Mike. You have a great site here! I have been in to hunting and fishing my entire life and don't know how in the world I never discovered AATVs before I saw that Scrambler out in the guy's yard and ask "What the heck is that thing?". Oh well, better late than never.....

Hello All,
recently purchased a 2001 MaxIV with the factory tracks and snowplow. Owned a Max II 21 years ago and enjoyed it until a major crash made it unrepairable back in 1992. No brake pedal on that model back then and oak trees don't give much on impact going downhill.
Saw some advice on this forum about how to remove the tracks easier and the shop-vac trick works great! Appreciate the exchange of tips on here.
Hope I will be able to contribute something of value to the forum members.
