        • Hi! Just found this site by accident but was surprised that there are other Ranger V 's out there. I still have the Ranger V that my dad bought in the early 1960's. Yes, it still runs and I use it to set ups the tobaggon run for the grand kids.

          • New to owning an argo 8x8, just bought an old model for a project rebuild with a tecumseh ohv 160. Wondering if any one could help with the year. Model HTB3375. Also looking to increase the horsepower on a engine swap possibly to a 23-25hp. Are the briggs or kohler motors an easy swap? Thanks for the help.

              • I love mud. I built jeeps for 20 years , then got too expensive. Moved on to 4wheelers. Now I bought an aatv. It's pretty cool

                    • Good morning all. I've been lurking around here for a while and always had a facination with Argos yet never owned one. I've had numerous atvs over the last 40+ years but never an Argo. Until now. This is what I just brought home. I have a feeling it is just a stepping stone and it's only a matter of time before I move into another one. For now I'm stoked to begin using it and seeing what these things can do.
                      Thx.
                      J

                      Argo 8x8 of unknown vintage

In a recent survey it was determined that three out of every four people make up 75% of the world's population.

                      • Hello 6x6 World, I’m here to introduce myself my name is Cody and I live in Alaska where I was born and raised. My dad had a BigMax 2 440 jlo as a kid and I loved that thing. It was such a blast to take out fishing or hunting or just to play on the beach or anywhere. We got a Coot later, and while it has its good points, really is a piece of junk compared to a Max for having fun / reliability. I was disappointed when he sold the Max and had looked for another one for many years until I found one close, a mid 70’s 340 JLO. The motor was tired from being a pipeline survey rig (running 40-50 miles a day, for 3 decades!) I was running my own OHV repair shop at the time so took it apart for a full rebuild and health issues and marriage issues got in the way of completion. I am back in the game and hope I can provide some value to the community here. I’ll get some pics up here soon.

                            • Hi my names jeremy.just bought a Max iv. I absolutely love it.but unforchantly my transmission is stuck in reverse and I'm trying to figure out exactly what year it is.dude that sold it thought possibly a 93 but it was given to him so he wasn't sure.insight on common transmission issues with the max iv models?I think it might be a shifter fork broken.also insight on locating the serial nber would be helpful.thanks. also insight on transmission parts/ new transmissions if they even are on the market?I new to the amphibious world so I can use all the help I can get.thanks.

                              • Welcome to the site. You can find the serial number by the key. Look under the Max category first thread “ sound off “ you can compare your serial there and get the year. The t 20 trans is very common in the amphib world. Check the easy stuff first. Linkage, movement, and connections. Remember it’s a little temperamental to shift. Rocking the machine slightly and pulling back a little on the sticks helps shifting.
What it lacks in ground clearance it makes up for with traction.
