  • Winter gloves/mitts?

Out in temps that are in the -15C or 14F I find that my thumb gets cold within half an hour regardless of what I use.
Also if the glove is a thick ski glove type it is hard to control the throttle. Have to reach far around to twist enough for 20km/hr then to slow down can't release enough to get slippage as it sticks to the palm.
What gloves/mitts do people like for winter riding?
Oh yes no cab on this Frontier.

I use a set of Klim snowmobile gloves. I have used these down to -15F with no problem. You might consider hand warmers if you're going colder than that.

Our temperatures never get really cold so I don't typically have to wear gloves when out riding the ATVs but when I ride my motorcycle at highway speeds on cold days, they wind chill really lowers the temperatures. I have a set of Gerbing 12V T5 Hybrid Heated Gloves. I have them hardwired into my motorcycle so that I plug them in when I get on but the gloves also have a special rechargeable battery pack that will power them if you prefer. Here's a link after a quick Google search: Gerbing's T5 Hybrid Heated Gloves - The Warming Store

They keep my hands nice and toasty even at 75mph with no fairing or wind protection.

I use HI-polar mitts. They are for ice fishing. They make a mitt, a glove, and a gauntlet. I highly recommend the mitt. Speaking from experience about 7 years ago my capillaries in my hands started shutting down as soon as they got cold, with humidity. Since then I've spent allot of money on different types of gloves and for the price these are the best. I have the rechargeable gloves mike speaks of and they are good too when charged. I get mine from a ice fishing store in NY by black lake. You can buy them online I just don't know how to post the link. Good luck

These sound good thanks. Only my thumb gets cold and I was thinking perhaps the grip on the throttle.
One question though do the gloves mentioned allow the throttle slip some when relaxing the grip a bit to slow down? The gloves I have tired all prevent that until I let go entirely.
There is a possibility my throttle is not adjust properly despite the dealer saying it is. Seems to have a lot of play before I get going

The Klim's work fine on mine.

The polar mitts absolutely take some getting used to but after time there's not much I can't do with them. You just have to use them and keep trying, you'll get mad at first but they do work, I'm not shure about the klim's.

I've plowed snow all winter with my Max II using these Home Depot Thinsulate gloves I bought for $20. Both warm and nimble.

Hey Mr. Smith, I live in interior Alaska and I can relate to the cold hands and trouble with the twist grip on the throttle. I put two short pieces of extension cord on the grip with zip ties and they make it easier to control the throttle with big mitts and use hand warmers in the mitts to keep the hands warm.

Add heated grip warmers they run about 50 bucks. Wire em in add a switch. Dun.

If you are referring to heated hand grips I think it would be a waste of $50 bucks because the insulation on the conductors will most likely crack from repeated bending in cold temps. I live in Delta jct. AK and twisting wires is my game.

I might be revealing my redneck heritage, but every year after hunting season I hit up Wal Mart when those little chemical heat packs go on clearance. I buy them by the box. A couple in each insulated glove keep my hands warm on my Street Glide doing 75 mph in 20 degree weather. I also put them in my boots, vest, jeans, and jacket as needed. No batteries, no wires. They also work well during deer season at -5 sitting in a tree stand.

Beagle man. You live in Delta so possibly you own a snowmachine? With heated grips? My sleds heated grips work fine at 40 below. There are a pad style, that yes the wires will bend on a twist throttle. There is also a plug style that goes in the handle tube.

I have owned several sleds in the past with hot grips and I have a wheeler with them and they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. I would definitely put some on the Argo if I found some that were made for the application. Its been a while since I researched hot grips, I will have to see what the new latest and greatest look like. I will check out the pad style, thanks for the tip.
