Why does everyone on quads wear hip waders to go riding?

The reason Dan could not climb out like Lee could , in his Argo Frontier ( with Mudbug tires ) , was because Lee,s Argo Frontier has front tires that extend past his lower tub ,and Dan,s Max IV tires do not . The front tires on Lee,s Frontier were able to get traction , and the front tires on Dan,s Max IV could not , because of the deep tire rutts at the end of that mud pit .

They wear hip waders because as you witnessed when they get in tough mud or swamp they spend more time off their machine than on it. But they are learning. Everyone and their brother had their eyes on my Max when I entered that mud pit. I think that half of them believed I wouldn't make it and the other half was hoping that I wouldn't.

          Dan ,

Thats probably true , and some of them were also mad that you did . I wear hip waders myself , because there have been times that I,ve had to get into the water , and remove a submerged tree limb or a vine , that wrapped around one of my axles .

The way you told me the story, you need a wet suit, not waders

having people watch is wondering what will happen is so true. I've been to LEOR and guys on quads will ask if it goes in the water, then want to see if it will so I drive in and out of the lake. They will then ask if it goes in soft mud like that, then climb hills. It will go on for 4 or 5 areas that challenge their quad and some are impressed others are miffed. Then how fast can you go comes up.

Almost every time someone will say to a buddy something like, see I told you they suck. So I guess it should be a conditional answer like 2X faster than you through that mud hole, or a whole lot faster than yours across that lake.

I had a buddy in high school that drove a jeep and he kept getting challenged to a race by a jerk of a guy that had a nice el camino. So after a few weeks my buddy agreed but he got to set the conditions. The other guy was so arrogant and assumed it would be on the road. It wasn't, they did race. The el camino ended being dented and scratched.

Video of Dans Max at creekside sat to music

Hey- here are some clips I put together of my Max at creekside. I set them to some good music. I put some video in here that shows my max heading toward the mud pit. I put this in here because I wanted everyone to notice how everyone on a quad played real close attention to the fact that I was moving toward the mud pit with my Max. Hope you enjoy!

After watching the videos on the Escargo website, I wonder if you'd be "cheating" by taking a machine down there with a set of their tracks?!?
Looks to me like mud is not a problem for them at all.

You can bet the quad guys would say your cheating. They already feel pretty bad getting shown up by a six wheeler. If you showed up with escargo tracks they would probably throw rocks at you before you got in their gate!
