Can anyone on here tell me how much taller the hustler 980 deep tub is compared to a hustler 950 model. I think I remember hearing that it was about a 3 inch difference in height, but I am looking for more of an exact dimension. My hustler is torn to pieces right now, and I am trying to decide if I want to try to convert to a deep tub when it goes back together.

Ask and you shall recieve. I would say closer to a 6" difference without breaking out a tape measure on some old bodies. Heres a few pictures of a 950 and a 980 Bigfoot Deep Tub Hustler bodies side by side. I have to ask though. How do you plan on converting it to a deep tub? Richards Relics sold out of all the remaining Hustler bodies about 1 1/2 years ago. Have you found a deep tub you can get your hands on or do you plan on modifying your old 950 tub?

Thanks for the pics. I was debating on looking for a deep tub because I am building my hustler into a springer and might be able to use the extra space for shock clearance. I'll have to decide later in the build after more measurements. I do have to say that the deep tub without wheels on it does look a little goofy, but what an awesome machine they are.I don't want to go fast, I just want to go anywhere.

Well I would do it as a 950. Look over at http://www.6x6world.com/forums/max-a...-springer.html also check out http://www.6x6world.com/forums/max-a...-springer.html. Whipper is the man on the springers.

Progress has been very slow over the past few months due to other priorities, haven't had time to work on it at all. My goal is to have it done by late spring of next year. I am eliminating the skid steer turning, and steering the front and rear wheels, the middle set will not turn.I don't want to go fast, I just want to go anywhere.

All,
Can anyone with a 980 tub give me a dimension from the cl of the axle to the point where the tub spreads outward. I need the overhead clearance to determine if my springer setup will work with a 980 tub.

Keith,
You are correct. I have a design for a new tub. However, I have not exhausted my search for a 980 which would be ok too. On a std 980 tub I would need at least 10" clearance above the axle.
If I go with my design then it does not matter."First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win." - Mahatma Gandhi
