    Back on the 945 HK

ok guys I got 3 of the axles out and only suffered a fractured left thumb in the process. bearings are a BI^&H when they are rusted on the shaft gotta use a press to get them off the axle tube. going back in the morning and get the other 3 out and try to keep the broken fingers to a minimum. called Buffalo Bearing yesterday and ordered all new bearings they should be here monday or tuesday. should have the frame blasted by then. and the reassembly begins. we have a ride coming up in october down around Hattiesburg MS and thats my plan to have it running complete with 25x12x12 tires mounted on Honda 420 rims ( gonna redrill the original hubs to a 4x110mm bolt pattern. 3000 lb winch and custom bumpers and rollcage. so wish me luck here we go again

Fractured thumb?! Ouch! Been there, done that. Glad you're making progress. I'd highly recommend going with a smaller rim size like 9" or 10" at the most if you're going to be running larger tires. The 12" rims with 25" tires mounted on them will give you a very rough ride because there's less sidewall with a 12" rim compared to smaller diameter rims. And tires are our only form of suspension on these machines and your back will be VERY sore after some trail riding and you'll be out a lot of money for all those wheels and tires. So go for a 9 or 10 inch rim and you'll be much better off.

The guys at Buffalo Bearing are great to deal with. Many folks on the site go through them for their bearings. Here's a K341 rebuild kit:

Happy to help......that's what we're all here for at 6X6World! Glad to hear about the fast progress on the machine. As far as throttle cables go, give the guys at Recreatives a call. Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511 They're very helpful. I used a Max IV throttle cable and throttle handle and it worked perfectly. I forget the exact length that I used, but measure yours and they'll be able to set you up with one.

I like Kohlers. The 20hp Command will be plenty of power for your 945hk. Have fun
