What size snapring? Can I put a c-clamp on it to compress it together and apply the ring? That would save me some moolah. Thanks for the help.

If the cams are disengaged, You will have to rotate the movable sheave 1/3 turn to preload the spring prior to pushing the cam back and installing the snap ring. You can use a stud through the middle and a sleeve large enough to fit over the shaft. Hold the sheaves together with a couple of c clamps to for installing the snap ring.
