Hi to all,
I am new to this site, been browsing for a few days now before and after the purchase of my first 6x6. First off I would like to say thank you for all the information that I have read and in advance for the help I will need to get this beast running again. It is a Hustler, could use a little help narrowing it down from there. It has a fiberglass upper and lower. Orange and Black in color and has a decal on the side that is a snake and says bushmaster, looks original not sure though. Seems to be missing a few things and had a few others added on. The guy was a tinkerer and didn't always put the right parts back onto it.
As you can see the gas tank is a two gallon can with a fuel line in it. The seat is from something. The original motor has been replaced with a Briggs & Stratton Vanguard 18hp. But one axle has been welded into the bearing with the sprocket welded to it as well. All of the bearings are two bolt agriculture bearings. Needing to find flanges to seal up the hull, don't know at this point if it would be better to replace all the axles with Argo or Max along with all of the bearings and flanges of either of those machines since they are easier to find. Thoughts?
In the process of getting the engine running again. Sat outside for the last few months, drained the oil it was old and black, replaced the gas as well. The air filter cover was an old coffee can that leaked. You could hear the water as you rotated the output shaft. Anyhoo working on getting it cleaned up and running again.
Well I was in need of a new project and the price was right (I guess), Any thoughts would be appreciated. Once I get the motor running I plan on removing all the unnecessary crap that has been added on. Then tackling the transmission, and seeing how the frame sits in the body.
Robert
