    sometimes its to easy of a fix seems to be running good SPARKPLUGS new ones lol will give more details saturday we are taking it to the woods for some test runs before i take it to the UP for bear season again thanks to all for the help tim

        looking to replace throttle cable what works best want a longer one and maybe thumb lever set up vs the motorcycle grip and suggestions thanks

          well we had it running last week went to load it sat wouldnt start again ordered 2 new coils will try it this weekend this has been a hassle for 4 weeks wish us luck lol

            fighting the same thing with a boat engine. keeps losing spark in one hole. Don't just order parts without trying to figure out the problem first... gets expensive that way.

              yeah we tested the coils one was ok not real good other was very poor not getting hot spark all the time we already replaced condensors points took carb apart cleaned it new fuel lines battery all new wiring and different fuel tank tested lower end on engine for leaks none found and new spark plugs and did commpression checks on both cylenders and both were good we will see lol thanks for suggestions all have been used glad i still have my modified golf cart lol

                well we have great spark good fuel to carb wont fire one of the guys working on it said it could be reed valves what and where thanks

                  any one replaced reed valves and where did you buy the replacements from thanks we are getting closer to making this thing run lerned these are what makes the vacumn in the engine and also keeps fuel from backing in and out of carb in simple terms a check valve system

                    I've never worked on this particular engine but......sometimes on other machines I've been able to flip the reed valves over and get it to run for a while.
                    1984 Hustler 980 and some other toys that won't even swim.

                      you may try denniskirk.com they use to carry parts for old sled motors another shot may be boysen reeds if you could provide dimensions number of petals something may match up i agree with flipping them over in some cases usually they are bowed so bad they wont seal tight if you could post a picture would help also to see how good or bad they are

                        well we looked at the engine its not a reed valve engine but a piston port engine we are looking a crankcase seal and all new gaskets wish us luck need this running by the 13th so i can deliver it to our bear camp

                          pray to the 6x6 gods that the complete gasket kit solves the problem out of time to keep messing with this might have 2 others for sale lol

                            well we put in the new gaskets and it started up perfect idled and accelerated turn it off and now wont start again seems to be blowing gas out the carb help this unit goes north wed running or not but i might have the 1st amish 6x6 if i can buy a horse lol help
