  • Max IV advice in the UK?

I recently purchased a Max IV, serial number 18837, for carrying out wildlife habitat maintenance and predator control over approximately 13500 acres of marshland and reed beds in the south east of England.
As there is very limited public access to land in the UK there are very few AATVs used for recreation and therefore not many (if any) outlets supplying spares, advice and information. I know that a lot of shooting estates in Scotland use AATVs but that is about all and as far as I know the majority use Argocats.
Does anyone know if there are other Max AATVs in the UK?

I have already rebuilt the engine, a Kohler 23, which now runs like a dream but I am getting a bit of a clunking noise from the rear end when turning.
I know that I need to adjust the chain tensions, but also want to change the ATF in the transmission.
I have read three different manuals for the Borg Warner T20 and all three suggest different grades of ATF.

Can anyone let me know the best option? Type A, Type F or AQ3?

I'm sure that I'll be back for further advice and will post some pictures when I get the chance.

That's very useful. So if I use synthetic ATF I do not need to add any limited slip additive.

in my opinion you can use ATF Syntetic ore Mineralic without any additiv. There are a lot of additivs in the modern ATF-Oil today. The only thing you dont have to do is, to use normal Gearbox Oil like W80-90. That kills your brake bands. This are just my 2 Cents.
        kind regards

You don't *have* to use any of the limited slip additive, but if you're getting substantial band-chatter when turning, you might want to consider throwing some in. I don't know if any of the synthetics cause less band chatter or not.

The additive is a high grade lubricant. It does exactly what the synthetic does, it helps to keep the inferior petroleum based oil from breaking down. I use synthetic, and do not have band chatter. But if you are worried about it...it certainly can't hurt to put it in.
