Hey guys...gals,quick question before I "officially" introduce myself.Does the Max I fit into a standard/regular pickup bed??I understand the "wheel humps" are a issue but I would build a platform over them to make the floor level...so(??)

Max II in Truck Bed

I have put a max II in the bed of a dodge Dakota. There are essentially 2 ways of doing it. 1: Take the middle tires off to leave room for the wheel wells. The front and back tires will touch the bed. 2: build a platform or put a pallet of sorts down in the bed to level it with the wheel wells. I don't remember if we could shut the tail gate. BTW, welcome to the forum.l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

tombstone, with the platform made the Max II with fit in a standard full size bed be it 6 or 8 foot, 6 foot you may have to haul it backwards to close the tail gate unless platform is high enough to clear the cab.
Input, Don't hit the cab or rear window, be sure to strap it down to the truck as it may hop out on you, use good ramps directly to the platform with some type of securing device, put a bungee cord over the hood so as not to lose it in the wind.
My rack/ platform is steel secured to the truck, ratchet straps go over the axles to secure machine to rack and they are built into the rack, ramps lock into the rack and has hauled machines from NJ to Florida, N.C., Oh.,NY, PA, MD, with no problems for 20 years in 5 different trucks.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.

I'll get some for you, it's out of the truck and the truck is hooked to the fifth wheel now. I have shortened my rack from 8 feet to 6 feet so it works with my bed box and plan to make legs to hook to fifth wheel rails, but have kept the old pieces around for ramps to clean the machine.
It mounted originally over the head board of the bed and to the rear roll pan / floor panel of the bed with 2 legs one either side of wheel wells to distribute the weight.sigpic

I somersaulted my max out of the bed of my 77 ford and had it land on me. It didnt feel good. Get on craigslist and spend 200 hucks on a small trailer"You've got to stand for something, or you'll fall for anything"

Sorry guys I lost this post for a while and my elbow wasn't and still really up to moving this thing, I did mount it yesterday and pick up a machine today. Here are the pics I promised oh so long ago, as i stated before the ramps have been modified over the years dor the tool bod and fuel tank ( not pictured ) but I layed the original piece in front of the right side ramp. It is built as a one piece unit now but was 2 originally. Going to eventually hook it into the 5th wheel rails.

Jim, I gotta say, that is a nice setup. I believe I could or (somebody good with a welder) could fab up something like that without too much cost. I really like it as you still have room under the machine to store stuff in the box."I'm NOT stuck, I'm just temporarily stopped"
