Crack help

Hi,
Tried to cross a creek and did not make the bank. Floated to the middle and tried to get out. No problem... I was very water tight. As I realized I could not move, I also realized i was quickly filling with water. I found out later... the tracks kicked up a tree... not a limb but a whole bloody tree, just the right size and jammed it into the body of my Max II. I now have a whole and a slit by the metal bracket that hold my muffler.
Any suggestions?

JB Weld will work. If you want a more hdpe appropriate repair you can use hdpe sheet and cut it to fit, pop rivet it in, then silicone the perimeter.

You could just plastic weld the crack. I have done that before.

I have a before during and after shot of a patch I did to plug the hole that was caused by my muffler. I used my heat gun, a plastic fender well from a old car, and some RTV to seal it.

Post a pic of the hole in question, it may be an easy fix or you may be better off buying a new or good used lower. Many members have updated to the newer bodies, upper and lower) with the exhaust inside.

HDPE is High Density Poly Ethylene. A type of plastic.

Plastic welding is a process. It's kind of like stick welding, but you are using a stick of the same type plastic the tub is made out of and a heat source similar to a soldering iron. You can get a basic plastic welding kit very cheap at harbor freight. If your feeling frisky you can get the fancier one too. I use the basic one. I use an old travel iron (no heat regulator) to smooth out my work afterwords, but that's going the extra distance.

I've had good luck plastic welding. The key is to take your time and don't work any spot too long. Sort of stitch or spot weld it in various places of the crack and keep moving spots until it's completely patched.

Yep plastic weld it. I had a good sized hole plastic welded shut on my 1995 Max IV and it was super strong and would never leak.
