  • Max II chain adjusters from RR

I have a new set of roller chain tighteners from RR ,look like they will work great. I have a question on the placement, top or bottom of chain. Should they be placed different for the front and back chains? Does any one have pictures after they have placed them? Any words of wisdom before I stare the replacement.

You will want to place them in the same position as the stock tensionors. The front ones will be on top of the chain and the rear ones will be on the bottom. The Max II is driven from the jackshaft to the center axles. This pulls the front chains tight on the bottom and it pulls the rear chains tight on the top so the tensionors will need to be on the opposite side to adjust the slack.

Those are probably my favorite product from Richard's Relics. The stock Max II chain adjusters are crap and in need of an update. Richard's adjusters hold tight and are easier to install than the factory adjusters. Front adjusters go on top of the chain, rear adjusters go below the chain. That should be how your factory adjusters were but just in case someone already messed those up, be sure to install your new ones correctly.

Thanks, I will have to wait for the weather to warm up here in WV. Wishing for spring.

Believe it or not... We're doing light rain right now in northwest Alaska. Supposed to be minus 30 or something.
          Maybe we stole your spring.

            chain tensioners

Got the roller tensioners installed, they work very well, The one under the motor was a pain but I did overcome the frustration.

Its a great product that I have run on 2 Max2s. Easy to adjust and basically no maintenance once installed. The fronts and right rear are not bad to install, but the one near the clutch is a bear, I would recommend pulling the engine for better installation access.

Anyone have any pics of those adjusters installed?
Are they different than what RI uses on my MaxIV?
