I called mudd ox today and spoke with Jesse .... hope that wasn't a mistake. But he said that the inner bearing was 1 1/8 iD 62mm oD and the outter is 1 1/4 iD 72mm OD ...... is that correct? Or should I call Galen at RI and confirm that ...

For a 2005 Max IV, that should be correct.

At some point R.I. started using a smaller bearing on the inner end of the axles, and a bolt for axle retention much the same as Argo does. I bought a replacement axle around Christmas time and it was turned down on the inner end. I still used my 1 1/4" bearing (it was new) by putting a spacer in next to the frame. This pushed the bearing out to the part of the axle that was still full diameter.

K in bearing talk LOL here are the damn Muscateer Axle bearings I've been searching for OMG what a PITA!

here two angles same bearings LOL Notice the internal O ring and the external double lip seal..

lil closer inner o ring groove

            and again

These machines require a sealed setup like this and I'm struggling in Canada to locate the damn things, 12 in total.

I can get single seal with that outer seal but no inner O ring...but double seal NOPE

Anyone able to assist with locating?

That's about double what I paid from a bearing house, with the locking collars.

Like Drew said, Buffalo Bearing sells them with the collars. Tell Greg or any of the helpful folks over there that you're with 6X6World and they'll take good care of you. (716) 874-1720.

hey guys thanx a lot. max IV can be a pain in the but every time I change an outer bearing I wind up replacing both of them because the axle is already out. clean the tub , strip caulk , spend an hour driving the bearings off the axle , seal the bearing retainers. All the time it takes me to do it if I save a little extra cash makes me feel a lot better.

The bearing depends on the axles if they are splined or not if they have the retaining bolts in the inner end of the axle. ... more info would help to get you a clear answer.
