Red Spring for Argo Vanguard
Hi guys, i sure can take a little more low end torque on my Argo Vanguard because we got a lot of swamp, mud and hill climb around here... Does any compagny made a ''RED '' spring for Argo... If i understand well this spring goes on the transmission... Can it be put on the engine clutch instead...

Ok..just wanted to make sure you read it, as there is spring tension involved! With mine, it was not necessary to heat it, as it came right out. My keyway was wallowed out and I got a machine shop to cut me a new one, so pay attention to your key/keyway and make sure it is a good fit when going back together.
Also, before assembly, I cleaned everything and lubricated with a dry lubricant.Hammers should have warning labels.

Martwell, I don't know about your '85 model, but the later models have an index-able spring, IE there are multiple anchor positions that change spring wrap tension and adjust the function of the driven clutch, the one on the trans. You could find someone familiar with your model. To Invent, you need a good imagination and a pile of junk. (Thomas Edison)

low end power
I received my red spring on Wedsday and have installed it. I went for a ride todayand was quite impressed. i was able to climb a steep sandy hill witch I couldn't do before. The low end power was much better shifting down or staying in low longer when starting from a stop. It was well worth the effort that it took to change the spring.
