  • Max IV chain question?

Do all max IV's use the same amount of chain? For instance, do the early max's with round head lights use the same length chains as new max's? Here is why I ask:

I replaced the center axle bearings and sprockets. While I was in there I thought it would be a good time to replace the chains. I removed the middle to rear chain and found it to be 116 pins... I have read on here that it should be only 114. I had some cheap chain laying around, so I broke it to 114 pins and made an attempt to put it on. (I wanted to be sure what length I really needed before I bought and broke good chain.). I don't see how I would ever be able to get it connected at 114 pins?? The rear axles are splined a snap ring and the center are solid pinned if that makes any difference.

    Any ideas?

Rear to center is 116 pins front is 122 pins. All the same , the RIM had a center axle chain to brakes under rear seat. Transmission to rear axle is 52 pins

Advice... Use high quality chain for the 52 pin trans to rear axle. These chains are differcult to get to. Engine usually has to come out. My own experience taught me this.
