This place used to make them but it was a few yrs ago so I don't know.

Not too hard to have somebody make Ya a setup like this, just use rims as the drum. can unbolt them pretty fast. bigger rim here but the consept is the same on a 8" up etc

Thanks Nubs. I like that idea as a back up to my winch on the front. Especially if there is no place to winch from in the front i can use a back wheel to pull with. Of course this depends on the price it takes for me to fab one up in the shop compared to the cost of buying a winch for the rear.

When you do, post info regarding what you did and show some pics and maybe a schematic if needed. I will get to this between now and whenever i get time and id hate to reinvent the wheel (no pun intended) lol.

Speedy Metals 1-1/8" 12L14 Steel Hexagon

Cut the hex bar to whatever length and tap both end's, replace 3 of the 5 lug nuts with them and use a rim with the same bolt pattern. use trailer lug bolts to mount the rim drum, no studs stickin' out if ya remove the drum

could drill, tap and chamfer the adapter mounts on a lathe pretty easy.

I think I would be willing to make one if somebody would want to try it? and If they like it then pay me for the materials cost etc

Would need a bolt Pattern, stud size and a picture of the wheel mounted on Your machine.

                      just throwin' it out there

you know...on this idea just tossing this out...with two you could in theory doe some serious sidehill by having one spooled with cable and the other unspooled...wound opposite so the spooled one lets line out and unspooled one takes line in....makes for a nice safety is all I am saying...

Or jack one side up and you could with a machine drum hace a capstan wich setup etc...

                        many options ideas etc

I agree that a setup for the option for 2 would be the way to go. adapters each side. could then choose which ya wanted to use. As long as the adpaters were flush to the tire they would not cause to much problem with catchin' on stuff. Maybe leave the mounting bolts in the adapters to keep the mud out

Hmmm, a capstan winch with a 29hp engine behind it? That is a pretty potent pulling device. I would say you need to jack the whole machine off the ground and then anchor it down, though. At least attach the front winch to a solid object.

I carry a come along with me for backup, its under $50 and has many uses not just for the 6x6. Not putting this setup down but if your stuck i'm assuming your wheels are deep in the mud. Good luck spooling that thing up in a mud hole.
