More power?

I have a 96 max IV with an 18 hp b&s vanguard. What can I do to the motor to give it more power??

Some experienced riders here might recommend changing the clutch spring from green to red . The red spring forces the engine to rev higher to moving clutch sheaves to a higher ground speed giving you more low end power and I would think less top speed too. I have no experience with this personally though.
