  • Max IV axel washer

Started reassembling my Max IV and need some help on the cupped washer that goes with the bolt that screws into the end of the axel that is on the inner frame rail. Does the cupped washer face with cup in or out? When I pulled them out some were faced in and others faced out.

The cup washers wrap around the sprocket tube and the lockwasher and bolt head go on either side.

I have splined axels on my Max the washer im talking about is the one that the bolt that screws into the end of the axel, I guess it keeps axel from pulling out. Its a pretty thick washer and it has a slight cup to it

I always put the convex side toward the bolt head and it will flatten as you tighten. If nothing else it may ack as a lock washer. Put a dab of blue (removeable) lock tight on the threads too.
What it lacks in ground clearance it makes up for with traction.

I assume you are talking about a belleville washer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belleville_washer

Wow. And I thought those types were merely bent by some odd force. Learned something today.
