Where do I find the serial number for my MAX II?

Searched this site top to bottom and found a lot of information about serial numbers, just not where to find it. Mine is a late 80's or early 90's model. Anybody?

Max II from early 70s to mid 90s have a number stamped on top of the frame in front of the battery box. Usually have to sand frame to find it and it's very small, 1/16" numbers.
