  • upper and lower body attachment

Hi, I've got a 70's max II (no vin #, not exactly sure the year) that I'm converting to electric drive. The body is in great shape, but came with a few haphazardly placed bolts with wing nuts and two flimsy broken hinges attaching the upper to lower body. It's a hassle to raise and lower or detach the upper body. Questions: How was this set up from the factory? Were the hinges on the front stock and if so how were they attached? There's not really room for nuts and bolts. Were they loose pins so the top could be detached without removing the hinges? What kind of fasteners were used as hold downs. Has anyone come up with a better way to set this up? Thanks for any help, if the temperature here in VT would rise a little bit from the current -28 degrees I'd be ready to test my rig.

on any max II's that i know of it had bolts and wingnuts all the way around the body. then if you need to service it you would leave the 3 in the front attached then raise the body like a hood. it sounds like something someone added rather than factory, but i could be wrong. there is enough room for bolts all around the machine.

Yes , there are holes that could be for bolts and wing nuts all around. So does the plastic lip of the lower body just flex when you raise the top body? Is there a tendency for it to crack where it flexes?
      Thanks ,

yes the body flexes , it is quite thick and unless yours is old and brittle it should be fine .... ps dont forget the sealing strip (truck cap tape) between the upper and lower body that keeps the joint water tite!
