Hey Whipper, those headers look great! All that hard work really paid off. I really cant believe how clean those bends were especially since the angles were so sharp. I cant wait to see some videos and hear that monster being fired up!

Well, I finally had a chance to go riding with Whipper, Bridget, and Reb today. We had a lot of fun, ate a lot of dust, ate a lot more dust and so on. I drove the monster max (aka "Springer") and the yellow spider (aka "Attex Springer"). Here is my opinion on the springer set up.----------AWESOME----------- I can no longer ride a reg ATV with there bucking, kidney / back braking, ridged ride. There is no substitute for a springer. I like to ride fast and the springer allows you to do this safely, while maintaining control. Remember tires on the ground, is always faster than in the air. The only thing you have to get used to with this fantastic upgrade, is the extra width. The width will add extra stability, and only takes about five minutes of riding to get used to it, then you will be blazing the trails just like before. If you have always wanted to put a bigger motor in your ATV, now you can, the springer kit will allow you to increase your top speed safely (within your own driving ability). With a stock machine speed isn't practical, because you don't have any suspension. I currently run a large, long travel off-road car equipped with a V8 and an endless list of goodies. Everyone that rides in my car comments on the quality of the ride, and how amazed they are when we go across whoops at a very high speed. Well the springers replicate that ride quality perfectly. This is the perfect set up for those looking to race, or have bad backs, or love the 6x6 machines and are just tired of getting beat up after a day of riding. Did you ever wish you could drive your living room set off road??? now you can have that same feeling with the addition of a springer kit.
We took many videos, and whipper will have a few hours of down loading and editing to do before posting them. Be patient, I would guess he will have the vids posted in the next few days.

Whipper said I should respond, because I really was the test pilot, not him. Hope no one minds the opinion of a woman? I got a feel for the difference almost instantly & from that point on it was the best ride I ever had in my Max. The extra width is NO big deal really. Heck, you can see the tires. If I hit something now, I better go get my eyes checked. I've run that wash w/o the suspension (remember She Took it Out?) & now with it. I'm never going back. Some of the turns in the canyon have these deep ruts in them from the dirt bikers & with the conventional ride, you have to fight against them, because the tires want to follow the rut. It's a workout. With the suspension, I noticed nothing but how smooth it rode thru those ruts, over ruts, over rocks. It was absolutely awesome. Now Whipper & I over the 30 some years that we've been driving these things are big on roll bars. We've both rolled them from time to time. Heck, I even endoed in front of a cop that was coming to tell us we couldn't ride where we were riding. We'll never ride w/o a roll bar, but I can honestly say that with the stability the Max has now, if it ever happened it would be because of a really BIG screw up on my part. I did ask Whip if he could lighten up my roll bar, maybe chrome moly tubing. I just don't feel I need it that beefy anymore. I also would really like a bigger motor, just so I can keep up with him. One thing I really like about the width is that I can grab the roll bar & step on a tire to get in or out. The sticks were so perfectly responsive. The slightest touch & it did what I wanted it to do. And it did it smoothly. I totally lost my fear of the rocks. I knew I had plenty of ground clearance. The ones my tires did ride over, & I did ride over some, I bearly noticed. I never imagined it could be this nice. I really wonder what it would feel like riding on a nice dirt packed road. Gees, I can't imagine it being smoother, but it would have to be like floating, I think. Anyway, the Max Springer is perfect in my opinion. He may seem big, but there were places I couldn't fit thru when it was conventional. You just learn to go another way if that happens, right? I'm so happy that Whipper got to finally do what he's wanted to do for so many years & once again, he did it well. It's just his version of a springer. His inspiration coming from all the different springer versions that were popping up around the time we stopped racing. He's given me a real, real, nice ride.

Whipper, No lampshade on Kody? Has he been good about not biting the stiches? Good luck to him on his recovery.
Oh and speaking of old cars, my dad loved your DVDs with all of the old cars in there parked in the pits......it brought back a lot of memories for him. Thanks again!

If you gear up for production, what do you think would be best for a guy on a limited budget (like me). Buying an old Max and converting to a Springer or converting one of my existing rigs (all Attex) to a Springer.
It appears fewer mods would be needed for a Max. It might actually be cheaper to buy another machine (Mx) than to convert one I already have.
Whipper , that was some outstanding video footage of Bridget in her Max II springer . Those jumps she did over that dirt ledge would have been back breakers in a stock 6x6 , with no suspension . Bridget did some really good drving !!
