I got the max running and took it for a spin. I LOVE IT >> but I still can't find the vin numbers. i had some time today and I looked it over inside and out. any idea where they might be. the only numbers I found were on the plate on the jlo engine

mine were on the seat frame. pull the seat and floor out and look on the right side of the bar that the seat sits on. i had to sand all the paint off mine to be able to read the #'s. if you need me to i can post a pic of where they are on my machine

here are some pics of where i found the # on my max (center of frame in both pics). i think our machines are about the same vintage. my # was 4701. recreative was able to tell me that it is a 1975. red body, 340 JLO and was shipped to california from the factory

Wow, that max got around. Kinda neat to find some history on your machines.

Tell your seller to cut all the chains with a chain or cable cutter and spend the 200 on new chains. It doesnt take much of a frozen chain to stop a 6x6.

the max is home, the chains were in good shape, and it rolled out of the truck when It was delivered, I guess he had it in gear or didnt have the tires aired up enough, I lucked out on the condition . i just had to clean the points and clean out the tank and it started up and ran good.just a few more little things like fuel line and greasing the chains and it should be ready to take swimming.
