I have seen a thread where the guy used a marine fan to push the air from the engine to the front of a MAX IV using the body channel on one side as a conduit. He said it push air to your feet on the front end. And there's a picture somewhere on this site of a MAX II with a wiper.
it should be fairly easy to rig up heat using one of these Turbo 3000 Blowers : Ventilation : Attwood and some 3 inch duct hose run through the body channel. just pick up air from the exhaust side of the engine compartment and use the hose to route it wherever you wanted it. you could probably route it to some PVC pipe mounted under the dash and drill holes so that it blows on the windshield for a defrost function.

I have a 12 volt clip-on fan on the grab handle blowing on the windshield,so far it keeps the windshield clear from heat coming up around the sticks.Running tracks in the snow keeps it running warmer than wheels on hard ground. The body tube on the left side of my Max II is quite warm and I'm going to fab some flex vent thru there to bring more. The windshield wiper.....I'm all ears for a good functioning idea for one of those. So far nothing. At the top of the windshield frame I don't know how much space there is from the edge of the glass to the top of the frame for a hole, even if there was enough it would be fouled by the canvas top.On the bottom even if it would work it would foul folding down the windshield on a hot day.But I'm working on a solution as it is needed in rain and snow.
Great ideas guys. I appreciate the info and help. I pulled up the website and found the fan. Not only can I use that fan in a max but I could use it in a few other things. Thanks and if you run across the windshield wiper forum let me know. Thanks
I'm really amazed at the ingenuity of people on this website. racerone3 and eldon... thankyou. When i become a dealer, this website is going to be my bible for finding answers.
I've got one of those little 12V heaters that plugs into an accessory plug or ciagrette lighter plug. I was wondering about using it for heat in my Max II.
The little plug in heaters/defrosters only produce about 150 watts and need a fair rev on the engine just to keep the charge in positive. It is a help but I find just a fan blowing a higher volume of air from inside the cab on the windshield more effective.
I agree Eldon, the little 12v heaters do not put out much heat at all. They cost around 19.00 at Wally World and in my estimation would not be worth it for the needs of most northern climates.
Good greif! Only 150W? I never looked, but figured they'd put out more than that. I had wondered about the alternator output on doing something like that. Most single engined airplanes use heat from a muff or shroud around the muffler to get heat & they use ram air. That sounds like a good plan there.
I do have one and when my windshield would frost up I would park and patiently at 1/2 throttle slowly pass it over the windshield. It would eventually warm the windshield and clear it and it would stay clear for a while but it is way to cumbersome an operation. The much higher volume clip on fan blowing the warmer air from the cab on the windshield is far more effective.I think the secret lies in getting that warm air out of the engine compartment without the fumes if any.
This could be done by feeding an aluminum flexible vent tube from the passenger side through the body tube through the engine compartment and back into the cab on the drivers side and put a fan at the end of the tube to draw air into the tube on the passenger side and blow it into the drivers side. Then the air in the cab is warmer and the clip on fan blowing on the windshield will keep it clear. In a Max II space is at a real premium.
what i was trying to show was this ther anyway of building a metal box around the exhaust right where the "Y" meat's after that just put a 12 volt fan inside the box blowing heat into the cab ether floor or winshield or put a slector on there to have both you get the idea so far that would be the hotest part of the motor and on the part it would be a strait part of the pipe no gases coming into the cab but there again just an idea beat's the hell out of a 150 heater from autozone... best part of all i'm goin to get my ass hand to me for this one but if you take the other half with you i'm sure you will not here my feet are cold/ i want to go home i'm cold/ i thought you said this was goin to be fun /nag nag nag nag nag sry for the typo's
